Regular Board Meeting of September 15, 2003

The Board approved the following:

÷   Professional status and tenure for the following teachers: High School - Nadine Rupp; George Wolf - Jennifer McGlynn; Borough - Mary Celia, Bruce Gaston, Tracy Rolles, and Eileen Vandegrift; Middle School - Sara Raub and Chad Smith.

÷    Resignation of Andrew Simock from his position of Social Studies Teacher at the Senior High School, effective August 30, 2003.

÷    Resignation of Terri Rapp, Hall Monitor at the Senior High School, effective August 30, 2003.

÷    Additions and deletions to the Substitute List, effective September 16, 2003. ÷      Additions and deletions to the district volunteer list, effective immediately.

÷   Unpaid Family Medical Leave for Jennifer Haley, beginning on or about February 4, 2004.  Ms. Haley anticipates her return to the classroom on or about May 3, 2004.  This leave is in accordance with the Family Medical Leave Policy.

÷    Unpaid Family Medical Leave for Michael Moser, Custodian at the Middle School, beginning September 8, 2003.  He anticipates his return on or about September 22, 2003.  This leave is in accordance with the Family Medical Leave Policy.

÷    Fall Roster of Community Education Instructors for the 2003-04 school year.

÷    Voluntary transfer of Cheryl Newton, Social Studies Teacher at the Senior High School to the position of Social Studies Teacher at the Middle School, retroactive to September 2, 2003.

÷   Gregory Schwartz as a TPE Social Studies Teacher at the Senior High School, effective September 2, 2003.  His salary will be $37,500.00, with benefits and is based on a BA Degree and Step 1 Year 1 of the current Salary Schedule.

÷   Shannon Tyburczy as a TPE Social Studies Teacher at the Senior High School, effective September 2, 2003.  Her salary will be $40,500.00, with benefits and is based on an MA Degree and Step 1 Year 1 of the current Salary Schedule.

÷ Gary Maranki as a Cafeteria Monitor in the Borough, effective upon receipt of Act 151 clearance.  His salary will temporarily be $5.82/hour and will be adjusted upon approval of the Collective Bargaining Agreement.  No benefits will be provided.

÷    Employment contract with the Northampton Area Education Support Association for the term July 1, 2003 through June 30, 2007.

÷    Contract with Denise Rader to serve as Community Relations Coordinator effective October 1, 2003 through June 30, 2007 at an annual base salary for 2003-04 of $48,410.00.

÷    Contract with Stacy Gober to continue serving as the Districtĺs Business Administrator/Board Secretary effective July 1, 2004 through June 30, 2008.

÷    Reassignment and Assignments to the Mentor/Inductee listing, effective for the 2003-2004 school year:

÷      List of staff and their compensation for After-School Detention and After-School Activity Bus at the Senior High and Middle School for the 2003-04 school year.  Compensation for teachers is the non-instructional rate as outlined in the collective bargaining agreement; support staff is based on their 2002-03 rate and will be adjusted upon approval of the Collective Bargaining Agreement.  No additional benefits will be provided.

÷      Christel Ruzicka to accompany approximately 50 Drama Club students on the New York City Broadway Tour field trip March 12-14, 2004 at a cost to the district not to exceed $100.00.

÷      Substitute rates for the 2003-2004 school year, effective July 1, 2003: Instructors - $90.00 for the first 20 days and $100.00 thereafter; secretaries - $8.25/hour; instructional assistants - $6.25/hour; lunchroom and hall monitors - $5.75/hour; and, substitute custodians - $9.26/hour.

÷      Extra-curricular positions and compensations for the 2003-04 school year:

÷      Participation of Dan Rempp and Julia Kline in the 2004 German American Partnership Program and to accompany our students to Germany for their exchange visit.  Total cost to the district for the total program not to exceed $2,500.00.

÷      Attendance of Pam Hoffner and two students from Student Council at the PSBA Student Delegate Program in Hershey, PA on October 22, 23 & 24, 2003 at a total cost to the district not to exceed $1,455.00.

÷      Attendance of Nancy Wilkin at the Pennsylvania Science Teachers Association Conference in Hershey, PA on December 4 and 5, 2003at a maximum cost to district of $425.00.

÷      Attendance of Gail Wolfel, Carol Ritter and Stacy Gober as NASD voting delegates at the PASA/PSBA Conference for School Leadership in Hershey, PA October 21-24, 2003 at an estimated cost of $2,512.00.

÷      Revised Art Curricula for Grades K through 8.

÷      Elementary Science Curriculum for Grades K through 6.

÷      Submission of PlanCon Part H: Project Financing for the G.O. Bonds Series 1999 and 2000 for the Lehigh Elementary Project.

÷      2003-04 Ala Carte prices for the Cafeteria Program.

÷      Bills for Payment.

÷      Treasurerĺs Report.

÷      Tax Exonerations.

÷      Authorization for the administration to prepare and solicit a ôRequest for Proposal for Foodservice Managementö for the School District.

÷      District Goals 2003-2007.

÷      Revised Northampton Area School District Act 48 Plan.

÷      Appointment of Carol Ritter, Gail Wolfel, and Stacy Gober as the Board representatives to serve as the Northampton Area School District voting delegates to the PSBA conference in Hershey, October 2003.

÷      Donation of laboratory glassware by Minerals Technologies, Inc. in Easton, PA to the Science Dept. of the NASD.
