Regular Board Meeting of August 2, 2004

Jamie Doyle, Public Financial Management, presented an update on outstanding debt.  Mr. Stoffa gave the Policy Committee report, Mr. Politi gave the NCC report, and Ms. Wolfel gave the BAVTS report.

The Board approved the following:

·         List of school bus drivers for the 2004-2005 school year.

·         Resignation of Meghan N. Bleiler from the position of LTS Grade 5 teacher, effective immediately.

·         Resignation of Krista Erceg Spradlin, German teacher, effective immediately.

·         Resignation of Jeffrey S. Holzman, Physical Science teacher, effective immediately.

·         Resignation of Lynne E. Yanders, Library Instructional Assistant, effective immediately.

·         Laura E. Graser as an LTS English teacher, effective September 1, 2004.  Her salary will be $39,500, with benefits and is based on a Bachelor’s +15 degree and Step 1 Year 1 of the current Salary Schedule.

·         An additional two and half days per week for Mary Persichetti, Speech and Language Therapist, at her per diem rate of $270.75. The timeframe is September 1, 2004 until approximately mid-November.

·         Sterling Ritter as a PE German teacher, effective September 1, 2004.  His salary will be $40,800, with benefits and is based on a BA+15 degree and Step 6 - Year 7 of the current salary schedule.

·         Linda H. Deurer as a TPE Family/Consumer Science teacher, effective September 1, 2004.  Her annual salary will be $39,800, with benefits and is based on a BA+15 Degree and Step 3 Year 3 of the current Salary Schedule.

·         Vicki L. Steiner as a Special Education Instructional Assistant, effective September 1, 2004.  Compensation will be $7.30/hour with benefits and is in accordance with the current salary schedule of the bargaining agreement.

·         Diane Neiper, Advisor of the Northampton FBLA Club, and Thomas Neiper, retired NASD employee and District-approved volunteer, to attend and chaperone six senior high school FBLA student members (4 females and 2 males) at the Penn State FBLA Leadership Conference October 30 - November 1, 2004 at a cost not to exceed $1,145.90.

·         List of mentors and payments for the 2004-2005 school year. 

·         Extra-Curricular and Supplemental Positions for the 2004-2005 school year.

·         District Coordinators and Compensation(s) for the 2004-2005 school year.

·         Deborah Fornos as an Inventory/Supply person, effective for the 2004-05 school year, pending receipt of Act 151 clearance.  Compensation will be $1,157.00, no benefits and is in accordance with the Supplemental Reimbursement for Extra Services of the current collective bargaining agreement.

·         Georgette C. Smith as a Hall Monitor effective September 2, 2004, pending receipt of clearances.  Compensation will be $6.80/hour, with limited benefits as in accordance with the current collective bargaining agreement.

·         Rachael Swanofsky as a Hall Monitor, effective September 2, 2004, pending receipt of clearances.  Compensation will be $6.80/hour, with limited benefits as in accordance with the current collective bargaining agreement.

·         Karen Mokris as a TPE Special Education teacher, effective September 1, 2004.  Her annual salary will be $38,700, with benefits and is based on a BA degree and Step 1 Year 1 of the current salary schedule.

·         Sarah E. Butler as a LTS Chemistry teacher, effective September 1, 2004.  Compensation will be $38,700, with benefits based on a BA degree and Step 1 Year 1 of the current salary schedule.

·         Payment of Dr. Barbara Gazze on an Independent Educational Evaluation pending receipt of the written report and bill. The cost is not to exceed $1400.00.

·         Contract with Ms. Janine Wargo to complete psychological evaluations on an as needed basis; the cost will be $350.00 per evaluation including appropriate assessments, written and complete Evaluation Report and meeting with parent and school.  The total cost will not exceed $10,000.00.

·         Contract for speech and language services with Cumberland Therapy Service, INC. for $53.00 per hour, six hours per day at two days a week, starting September 13, 2004 to November 12, 2004 (based on Mrs. Wescott’s return to work).

·         Frank Posivak as a Hall Monitor, effective September 2, 2004.  Compensation will be $6.80/hour, with limited benefits in accordance with the current collective bargaining agreement.

·         Attendance of Stacy Gober at the annual ASBO Conference in Cincinnati OH October 15-19, 2004 at an approximate cost of $1,513.00.

·         Mariacruz Urtasun as a LTS Spanish teacher, effective for the 2004-2005 school year. Her salary will be $39,500, with benefits and is based on a BA+15 degree and Step 1 Year 1 of the current Salary Schedule.

·         Lauren Cassar as a LTS elementary teacher, effective September 1, 2004 for the 2004-05 school year.  Compensation will be $41,700, with benefits and is based on a MA degree and Step 1 Year 1 of the current Salary Schedule, pending receipt of all paperwork.

·         Carol Marano as a LTS elementary teacher, effective September 1, 2004 for the first semester of the 2004-05 school year. Compensation will be $38,700, pro-rated with benefits and is based on a BA degree and Step 1 Year 1 of the current Salary Schedule.

·         Heather M. Sznoluch as a TPE elementary teacher effective September 1, 2004.  Her annual salary will be $39,200 with benefits and is based on a BA Degree and Step 4 Year 4 of the current Salary Schedule.

·         Bills for Payment.

·         Foreign Exchange placement of Fabian Schaefer from Germany as a student at Northampton Area Senior High School for the 2004-2005 school year.

·         Appointment of Jean Rundle, Geraldine Skrapits, and John Stoffa as the Board representatives to serve as the Northampton Area School District voting delegates at the PSBA conference in Hershey, September 2004.

      ·         Identification of George Wolf Elementary School as the second renovation project.
