At the regular meeting of the Board of Education, Chris Haller, D’Huy Engineering, presented an update on the High School project.  Mr. Gogel presented the Facilities Committee and BAVTS reports.  Mrs. Skrapits presented the Technology Committee report.  Brittney Hein, Student Council Representative, presented an update on Student Council activities.      

 

The Board approved the following:

 

·         Extension of an unpaid childrearing leave for Heather Greene, Guidance Counselor at the High School, through the remainder of the 2006-07 school year.  Ms. Greene will return to her position the first teacher day of the 2007-2008 school year.

·         Resignation of Susan Benninger, Elementary Teacher at Lehigh Elementary School, for the purpose of retirement, effective June 7, 2007, or the last teacher day of the 2006-07 school year. 

·         Resignation of Harriet Cramer, Special Education Teacher at Moore Elementary School, for the purpose of retirement, effective June 7, 2007, or the last teacher day of the 2006-07 school year.

·         Resignation of Donna Csencsitz, Elementary Teacher at Wolf Elementary School, for the purpose of retirement, effective June 7, 2007, or the last teacher day of the 2006-07 school year. 

·         Resignation of Kathleen Risley, Music/Instrumental Strings Teacher at George Wolf, Lehigh, and Moore Elementary Schools, for the purpose of retirement, effective June 7, 2007, or the last teacher day of the 2006-07 school year. 

·         Resignation of Sarah Saltzer, Elementary Teacher at Moore Elementary School, for the purpose of retirement, effective June 7, 2007, or the last teacher day of the 2006-07 school year. 

·         Resignation of Martha Sawarynski, Elementary Teacher at Wolf Elementary School, for the purpose of retirement, effective June 7, 2007, or the last teacher day of the 2006-07 school year. 

·         Resignation of Roger Firestone, Art Teacher at the High School, for the purpose of retirement, effective June 7, 2007, or the last teacher day of the 2006-07 school year. 

·         Resignation of Gregory Heist, Physical Education Teacher at Moore Elementary School, for the purpose of retirement, effective June 7, 2007, or the last teacher day of the 2006-07 school year. 

·         Resignation of Barbara Hildenbrandt, Elementary Teacher at Moore Elementary School, for the purpose of retirement, effective June 7, 2007, or the last teacher day of the 2006-07 school year. 

·         Resignation of Martha Langkamer, English Teacher at the Middle School, for the purpose of retirement, effective June 7, 2007, or the last teacher day of the 2006-07 school year. 

·         Resignation of Margaret Leibenguth, Elementary Teacher at George Wolf Elementary School, for the purpose of retirement, effective June 7, 2007, or the last teacher day of the 2006-07 school year. 

·         Resignation of Constance Nagy, Elementary Teacher at Wolf Elementary School, for the purpose of retirement, effective June 7, 2007, or the last teacher day of the 2006-07 school year. 

·         Resignation of Barbara Silfies, Instructional Support Teacher at Wolf Elementary School, for the purpose of retirement, effective June 7, 2007, or the last teacher day of the 2006-07 school year. 

·         Resignation of Carol Strohl Ford, Special Education Teacher at the High School, for the purpose of retirement, effective June 7, 2007, or the last teacher day of the 2006-07 school year. 

·         Resignation of Michael Sugra, Sr., Health/Physical Education Teacher at the Middle School for the purpose of retirement, effective June 7, 2007, or the last teacher day of the 2006-07 school year. 

·         Additions and deletions to the Substitute List.

·         Additions to the District Volunteer master listing for the 2006-07 school year: Cheryl Anthony - Borough, Raechel Fehnel - Lehigh, and Mary Schoenberger - George Wolf.          

·         Resignation of Mick Sugra, Jr., Assistant Baseball Coach, effective January 29, 2007.

·         Matt Billy as a Hall Monitor, effective February 6, 2007, or upon receipt of acceptable Act 34 and Act 151 clearances.  Salary will be $7.25 per hour, in accordance with the current salary schedule of the collective bargaining agreement, with limited benefits.

·         Tara Mushko as a LTS English Teacher, effective March 9, 2007, through the end of the 2006-07 school year.  Her salary will be $217.55 per diem, without benefits.

·         Sherry Chamberlain as Technology Office Secretary, effective February 13, 2007, or upon release from her present employer.  Continued employment is dependant upon receipt of an acceptable, updated 151 clearance.   Her rate of pay will be $12.01 per hour, in accordance with the current salary schedule of the collective bargaining agreement, with benefits.   

·         Lynne Olsen as a Temporary Hall Monitor, effective February 13, 2007, or upon receipt of acceptable clearances, through the remainder of the 2006-07 school year.  Salary will be $7.25 per hour, in accordance with the current salary schedule of the collective bargaining agreement, with limited benefits.   

·         Ryan Mertz, Orchestra Director, to accompany high school student Mark Polyanski to the PMEA Region 5 Orchestra Festival at Franklin and Marshall from February 28 through March 3, 2007.  Approximate total cost to the district not to exceed $569.30.

·         Ryan Mertz, Orchestra Director, to accompany the Northampton Senior High School Orchestra to the Festivals of Music in Virginia Beach, VA from May 4 -6, 2007.  The cost to the district is $100.00.

·         Attendance of Barbara Carrington, Speech and Language Department Chair, at the Pennsylvania Speech-Language-Hearing Association Convention in State College, PA, from March 21-24, 2007, at an approximate cost of $1,017.80.

·         Attendance of Tara Mrazik, Mario Pasquariello, William Dovico, Andrew Lukievics, Rebecca Lorah, Julia Kline and Ann Harrington at the PA DECA State Career Development Conference, along with 67 DECA students, February 28 - March 2, 2007, in Hershey, PA.  Maximum cost to the district will be $13,539.00.

·         Attendance of Nadine Rupp, Guidance Counselor, at the Pennsylvania School Counselor Association Annual Conference on April 19 - 20, 2007, in Lancaster, PA, at a total cost to the district of $351.00.

·         Heather MacDonald as a LTS Half-Time Social Studies Teacher in the High School, effective February 13, 2007, through the end of the 2006-07 school year.  Her employment will depend upon receipt of an acceptable, updated Act 151 clearance.  Her salary will be $108.78 (1/2 of per diem pay) without benefits, based on a BA degree and Step 1, Year 1 of the current salary schedule.   

·         Resolution to renew the charter for the Lehigh Valley Charter High School for the Performing Arts from July 1, 2007, through June 30, 2012.  

·         Service agreement with Trane, Inc. for maintenance of the two chillers at Moore Elementary for a three year term beginning March 1, 2007, through February 28, 2010, in the amount of $2,692.00 annually. 

·         Submission of PlanCon Part K: Project Refinancing for the 2007 Refunding Issue, which partially refunded the 2003 Series.

·         Authorization for the preparation and submission of PlanCon Part F Attachment C - Post Bid Opening Notification for the Wolf Elementary Renovation/Addition Project No. 3311 to PDE.

·         Intent to award contracts to the following contractors conditioned upon receipt, review, and approval of the Contractors Qualification Statements and satisfaction of all other requirements as provided for in Article 5 of the Instruction and Supplemental Instructions to Bidders.
