At the regular meeting of the Board of Education, William Conner presented the Scholastic All-America Swimming Award to Eric Anderson. Joseph Kovalchik recognized Middle school students for their achievements in District Band and Orchestra, Spelling Bee, Geography Bee, Readers Digest Word Power Challenge, VFW Writing Contest, and Math 24 Challenge. Mrs. Skrapits presented the Safe School Committee report. Lauren Verret, Student Council Representative, presented an update on Student Council activities.
The Board approved the following:
Additions and deletions to the Substitute List.
Resignation of Cara Hillenbrand, Indoor Twirler Advisor, effective June 8, 2007 or the last day of the 2006-07 school year.
Resignation of Aniko Jordan, Cafeteria Monitor, effective March 29, 2007.
Additions to the District Volunteer master listing for the 2006-07 school year: Shiloh Fletcher - George Wolf and Wendy Manarino - George Wolf.
Director of Data, Grants, and Special Programs job description.
Resignation of William Hirst as Head Coach - Boys & Girls Cross Country, effective March 28, 2007.
Attendance of Tara Mrazik, two additional chaperones (Mr. and Mrs. Mario Pasquariello), and 18 members of the Northampton High School DECA organization to the DECA International Career Development Conference competition in Orlando, FL, April 27 - May 2, 2007, at a total cost to the district of $10,855.76.
Ryan Mertz, High School Orchestra Director, to accompany High School student Mark Polyanski to the PMEA State Orchestra Festival at Cumberland Valley High School, Mechanicsburg, PA, on April 18 - 21, 2007, at an approximate cost to the district not to exceed $894.67.
Susan Beers as a Cafeteria Monitor, effective April 3, 2007. Her continued employment will depend upon receipt of an acceptable Act 114 FBI fingerprint report. Salary will be $7.10 per hour, in accordance with the current salary schedule of the collective bargaining agreement, no benefits.
Jeffrey Lantzer, High School Band Director, to accompany High School student Nicholas Mitchell to the State Band Festival at Red Land High School in Lewisberry, PA, on April 18-21, 2007 at a total anticipated cost to the district of $1,085.00.
Attendance of Gwen Wildin, Health and Physical Education Department Coordinator, at the Wellness and Academic Success conference in State College, PA, from April 30 - May 1, 2007, at an approximate cost of $532.04.

Authorization for the administration to submit PlanCon Part J: Project Accounting Based on Final Costs for Moore Elementary Project No. 2498 to PDE.
Adoption of the 2007-08 Bethlehem Area Vocational Technical School General Fund Budget in the amount of $9,612,230 with the NASD portion of $2,523,968 required to fund the budget.
Bills for Payment.
Tuition rates of $200.00 per two-hour course for resident students and $250.00 per two-hour course for non-resident students for the 2007 summer school program. Tuition costs for courses less than or greater than two hours will be pro-rated.
Adoption of the resolution authorizing the issuance of individual procurement cards by participating in the EasyProcure program endorsed and sponsored by PSBA and PASBO.
Resolution to implement a property tax rebate program for the 2007-08 school year with the same income levels and maximum rebate as in prior years.
2006-07 Budget Transfers.
Adoption of the 2007-08 Preliminary General Fund Budget with revenues of $75,452,042 and expenditures of $75,452,042. This budget is supported by an increase of 1.59 mills which is under the allowable Act 1 index.
Development of a Student Dress and Grooming Policy - Option 1, Exclusion Policy - to be effective for the beginning of the 2007-08 school year.
Appointment of the following Northampton Area Public Library Trustee at the recommendation of the NAPL Board of Trustees: Dorothy Ambrosino, 150 Lacks Lane, Bath PA, to fill the unexpired term of Christina Gehringer, beginning immediately through January 2009.
