At the regular meeting of the Board of Education, teacher Gary Pierzga presented the Borough Elementary School Student Council and Dr. Kathleen Ott presented certificates of achievement to Skills USA, DECA, and FBL students. Silvia Hoffman, MKSD, reviewed the GW project. Chris Haller, D’Huy, reviewed the HS project and Wolf projects. Mrs. Erdo presented the Legislative and CIU20 reports. Nike Politi presented the NCC report.
The Board approved the following:
Resignation of Dale Inlander, Band Director/Instrumental Music Teacher at Wolf and Lehigh Elementary Schools for the purpose of retirement, effective June 13, 2007, or the last teacher day of the 2006-07 school year.
Resignation of Leanne Gaughran, Newspaper Advisor, effective June 13, 2007.
Resignation of Tammy Fox, Junior Class Advisor, effective June 13, 2007.
Resignation of Robert Ruggeri, Assistant Girls Basketball Coach, effective April 12, 2007.
Unpaid childrearing leave for Jennifer Haley for the period of November 20, 2007, through February 1, 2008.
Additions to the District Volunteer master listing for the 2006-07 school year: Donna Bartholomew-Sacco - George Wolf, Catherine Faustner - Boro, and Janine Strohl - George Wolf.
Job descriptions for the following administrative positions: Assistant Director of Special Education, Athletic Director, School Psychologist, Director of Technology, Network Specialist, Tax Office Supervisor, and Maintenance Supervisor, effective May 8, 2007.
Resignation of Andrea Wasilko, YEA Advisor, effective June 13, 2007.
Professional staff transfers effective with the 2007-08 school year.
Resignation of Patricia Jones, as Newspaper Advisor, effective June 13, 2007.
Additions and deletions to the Substitute List.
Tammy Tacker as Head Teacher at Franklin Elementary School for a pro-rated portion of the 2006-2007 school year. She is to receive a pro-rated stipend of $872.90.
Adjustment for Michele Davidson to long-term per diem substitute status, with the per diem rate of $233.51, based on Step 1 of the Master’s column of the collective bargaining agreement. Her effective date is retroactive to February 1, 2007, until the end of the 2006-07 school year.
Adjustment for Sandra Micci to long-term per diem substitute status, with the per diem rate of $217.55, based on Step 1 of the Bachelor’s column of the collective bargaining agreement. Her effective date is retroactive to January 8, 2007, until the end of her present assignment.
Angela Buchman as a TPE English Teacher at the Middle School, effective August 27, 2007. Her salary will be $41,703.00, with benefits, based on a BA degree and Step 2, Year 2 of the current salary schedule.
Listing of Student Summer Help and alternates, along with their compensation rate of $6.25 per hour from June 11, 2007, through June 30, 2007. Effective July 1, 2007, the minimum rate wage will then be increased to $7.15 per hour, as per Pennsylvania legislation.
Pam Hoffner and Gene Thrash to accompany 13 HS students to the Delaware River Watershed 2007 Youth Eco-Summit at the Tuscarora Inn in Mt. Bethel, PA, on April 30 and May 1, 2007 at a cost to the district not to exceed $1,200.00.
Gene Thrash and Dan Rempp, Outdoor Club advisors, to attend an overnight camping trip with 20-25 students from the Outdoor Club held at Locust Lake State Park near Tamaqua, PA, on May 25-28, 2007. This trip will be at no cost to the district.
Attendance of Linda Zehner, Yearbook Advisor, and six female yearbook students at the Jostens Summer Conference at Gettysburg College July 29-31, 2007, at a total cost to the district not to exceed $3,075.00.
Robert Steckel as Head Football Coach with 4 years’ experience at a compensation of 95% of the current district supplemental reimbursement totaling, $10,640.00 effective May 8, 2007. Continued employment is contingent upon receipt of updated and acceptable Acts 34, 151, and FBI clearances.
Attendance of Debbie Green, Technology Technician, at Classrooms for the Future technical training in York, PA, from May 1-4, 2007, at an estimated cost of $110.00.
Employment contract with the Northampton Area Education Support Association for the term July 1, 2007, through June 30, 2012.
Awarding of the Audio-Visual bid for the HS Renovation/Addition project, PDE Project No. 3179, to Sage Technology Solutions, Mount Joy, PA, at a total cost of $337,637.
Authorization for the Administration to prepare and solicit bids to supply window treatments, including installation, at the High School and Wolf Elementary School.
Change order MC-01 for Worth & Company in the amount of $18,407.05 for replacement of a damaged coil in air handler unit #11 on the HS project.
Change order EC-01 for Farfield in the amount of $27,795.16 for providing emergency power to AHU-14, which is the air handling unit for the Gymnasium, which will allow the District to use the Gymnasium at the High School as a shelter in case of emergency.
Authorization for the administration to submit PlanCon Part I: Interim Reporting - Submittal No. 2 for the HS Renovation/Addition Project No. 3179.
Authorization for the administration to submit PlanCon Part F: Construction Documents for the George Wolf Elementary Renovation/Addition Project No. 3296 to PDE.
T. Schneider Co. to supply, assemble, and install computer lab furniture for eight computer labs in the High School at a cost of $81,214.42.
Bills for Payment.
Authorization for the administration to prepare and solicit bids for replacement band and guard uniforms to be purchased from the 2007-08 budget.
2006-2007 Budget Transfers.
Advanced Micro Computer Specialists, Inc. to supply, install, and configure a secure remote access server at a cost of $3,131.41.
One-year extended service agreements for thirteen (13) datacenter servers at a cost of $5,571.00.
Expulsion Hearing Waiver for Student Number 2007-09.
Revised 2006-07 school calendar.
Donation of $105 from the Northampton Boro PTA to the Borough Elementary Libraries on behalf of the Northampton Borough Elementary Retiring Teachers.
Expulsion for Student Number 2007-10.
Donation of fabrics and patterns from Mrs. Bonnie Dodge to the Northampton Area High School. The total value of the donation is $1,942.00.
HS student Michael Chirico to participate in The Pennsylvania Council of Teachers of Mathematics Invitational Mathematics Contest at Shippensburg University May 20-21, 2007, at a total anticipated cost to the district of $50.00.
Name change of Wolf Elementary School to the Colonel John Siegfried Elementary School, effective at the beginning of the 2007-2008 school year.
