School Board Meeting

At a special meeting of the Board of Education on May 23, 2007, the Board approved the following:

 

·         J. William Hume as High School Principal, effective July 1, 2007.  Continued employment is contingent upon receipt of acceptable Acts 151 and 114 clearances.  Salary will be $102,000.00, with benefits, and in accordance with the Act 93 Agreement. 

 

At the regular meeting of the Board of Education on June 4, 2007, Karen Fleming presented Music Touches Lives.  Students from Lehigh Elementary School performed.  Debbie Collins, RN, presented the Immunization Clinic for 9th Grade Students. Dr. Firestone introduced newly hired High School principal, William Hume.  Mark Thompson, MKSD, presented the architect’s report and the Chris Haller, D’Huy Engineering, presented the engineer’s report.  Mrs. Erdo presented the Legislative and CIU20 reports.  Mr. Dimmick presented a report on the After Prom party.

 

The Board approved the following:

 

·         Resignation of Sandra Bowen, 10-Month Secretary, effective May 21, 2007.

·         Unpaid leave of absence for Cynthia Heffley, Instructional Assistant at George Wolf Elementary School, for the period of August 22, 2007, through December 15, 2007. 

·         Termination of the temporary assignments, effective at the end of the school day, June 8, 2007.

·         Unpaid leave of absence for Anne Marouchoc, Career Education Counselor/Teacher at the Middle School, from May 23, 2007 through June 13, 2007, inclusive.

·         Additions and deletions to the Substitute List.

·         Voluntary transfer of Stephen Weslosky from Middle Shift Custodian at the High School to Day Shift Middle School/High School Custodian effective July 1, 2007.  Salary will be 100% of the current hourly rate, to be determined, in accordance with the collective bargaining agreement, with benefits.   

·         Angela Mitchell as Assistant Marching Band Marching Tech/Brass Instructor, effective for the 2007-2008 school year, ending June 30, 2008Continued employment is contingent upon receipt of acceptable Act 114 FBI fingerprint report.  Compensation will be $1,515.00, no benefits and in accordance with the 2005-2008 Collective Bargaining Agreement.

·         Alana Heller as a TPE Kindergarten Teacher at Washington Elementary School, effective August 27, 2007.  Continued employment is contingent upon receipt of acceptable Act 114 FBI clearance.  Her salary will be $44,844.00, with benefits, based on a MA degree and Step 1, Year 1 of the current salary schedule.   

·         Kristin Hoffman as a TPE Grade 6 Teacher at Wolf Elementary School, effective August 27, 2007.  Continued employment is contingent upon receipt of acceptable Act 114 FBI clearance.  Her salary will be $41,703.00, with benefits, based on a BA degree and Step 2, Year 2 of the current salary schedule.   

·         Christopher Bodnar as a TPE Grade 6 Teacher at George Wolf Elementary School, effective August 27, 2007.  His salary will be $41,550.00, with benefits, based on a BA degree and Step 1, Year 1 of the current salary schedule.   

·         Sally Whittaker as a TPE Career Education Counselor/Teacher at the Middle School, effective August 27, 2007, pending receipt of PA certification.  Her salary will be $44,844.00, with benefits, based on a MA degree and Step 1, Year 1 of the current salary schedule.   

·         Beth Fuchs as a TPE Math Teacher at the Middle School, effective August 27, 2007.  Continued employment contingent upon receipt of acceptable Act 114 FBI clearance.  Her salary will be $41,703.00, with benefits, based on a BA degree and Step 2, Year 2 of the current salary schedule.   

·         Voluntary transfer of Cynthia Stoudt from Special Education Instructional Assistant at the Middle School to Health Room Assistant for the High School and Middle School effective August 27, 2007.  Salary will be $12.64 per hour, in accordance with the collective bargaining agreement, with benefits.   

·         Krista Feliciani as a TPE Instrumental Strings Music Teacher at George Wolf, Lehigh and Moore Elementary Schools, effective August 27, 2007, pending receipt of PA certification.  Her continued employment is contingent upon receipt of an acceptable Act 114 FBI clearance.  Her salary will be $41,550.00, with benefits, based on a BA degree and Step 1, Year 1 of the current salary schedule.   

·         Robert Steckel as a TPE Academic Opportunities Teacher at the Middle School, effective August 27, 2007.  Continued employment is contingent upon receipt of acceptable Act 114 FBI clearance.  His salary will be $46,200.00, with benefits, based on a MA degree and Step 5, Year 5 of the current salary schedule.   

·         Carolyn Albright as a TPE Grade 1 Teacher at Lehigh Elementary School, effective August 27, 2007.  Continued employment is contingent upon receipt of updated and acceptable Act 151 clearance, and an acceptable Act 114 FBI clearance.  Her salary will be $44,844.00, with benefits, based on a MA degree and Step 1, Year 1 of the current salary schedule.   

·         Michael Schneider as a PE Special Education Teacher at the Middle School, effective August 27, 2007.  Continued employment contingent upon receipt of updated and acceptable Act 151 clearance and acceptable Act 114 FBI clearance.  His salary will be $43,350.00, with benefits, based on a BA +15 degree and Step 5, Year 5 of the current salary schedule.   

·         Craig Schutts as a TPE Grade 4 Teacher at Lehigh Elementary School, effective August 27, 2007.  Continued employment is contingent upon receipt of acceptable Act 114 FBI clearance.  His salary will be $41,550.00, with benefits, based on a BA degree and Step 1, Year 1 of the current salary schedule.   

·         Brian McNeal as a TPE Grade 1 Teacher at Franklin Elementary School, effective August 27, 2007.  Continued employment is contingent upon receipt of acceptable Act 114 FBI clearance.  His salary will be $41,703.00, with benefits, based on a BA degree and Step 2, Year 2 of the current salary schedule.   

·         Nicole Cramer as a TPE Grade 2 Teacher at Moore Elementary School, effective August 27, 2007.  Continued employment is contingent upon receipt of an updated Act 151 clearance and an acceptable Act 114 FBI clearance.  Her salary will be $41,550.00, with benefits, based on a BA degree and Step 1, Year 1 of the current salary schedule.   

·         Michele Davidson as a LTS Elementary Teacher at George Wolf Elementary School, effective August 27, 2007, for the 2007-08 school year.  Continued employment is contingent upon receipt of acceptable Act 114 FBI clearance.  Her salary will be $44,844.00, with benefits, based on a MA degree and Step 1, Year 1 of the current salary schedule.   

·         Voluntary transfer of Annette Kollar from Guidance Office Assistant at the High School to 10-Month Special Education Secretary at the High School effective August 13, 2007.  Salary will be $12.80 per hour, 80% of the current hourly rate, in accordance with the collective bargaining agreement, with benefits.   

·         Attendance of Dr. Linda Firestone at the CIU20 Summer Administrative Workshop from August 1 through August 3, 2007, at Fernwood Hotel and Resort in Bushkill, PA at a total cost of $380.32.   

·         Attendance of Jayne Hartzog, Instructional Technology Specialist, at the CIU20 Summer Administrative Workshop August 2-3, 2007, at Fernwood Hotel and Resort in Bushkill, PA at a total cost of $239.16.   

·         List of teachers for the elementary summer program from July 10, 2007 -August 9, 2007, at the appropriate contracted curriculum rate.

·         Deletion of Policy 3:04 - Non-Public School Field Trip Reimbursement, from the Board Policy Manual.

·         Submission of PlanCon Part I: Interim Reporting - Submittal No. 3 for the HS Renovation/Addition Project No. 3179.

·         Public Official Bonds through HRH with Fidelity & Deposit Company, MD as the carrier, as follows: Board Treasurer (Rose Roberts), 1-year term, 7/1/07-6/30/08, $25,000 limit at a cost of $150.00 and Assistant Board Secretary (Pat Brusko), 1-year term, 7/1/07-6/30/08, $25,000 limit at a cost of $88.00.

·         2006-2007 Budget Transfers.

·         Bills for Payment.

·         Awarding of the bid for Vertical Blinds for the High School and Wolf Elementary School to Penn Blinds of Allentown, at a total cost of $21,895.00 (includes installation).

·         Continuation of the Community Education Program for the 2007-2008 school year, with the understanding that only courses that cover all expenses of the program will be offered.  There will be no cost to the district.
