At the regular meeting of the Board of Education, Beth Arcury presented the winner and a semi-finalist of the Statewide Dental Poster Contest.

 

The Board approved the following:

 

·         Additions and deletions to the Substitute List.

·         Resignation of Kimberly Sterner from the position of Special Education Teacher at George Wolf Elementary School, effective August 24, 2007.

·         Official job descriptions for the following administrative positions: High School Principal and Assistant Principal, Middle School Principal and Assistant Principal,  

           Elementary Principal, and Custodial Supervisor, effective June 19, 2007.

·         Resignation of Almorinda Demko, Cafeteria Monitor, effective June 1, 2007.

·         Resignation of Karen Kutz, Guard Instructor, effective June 8, 2007.

·         Updated list of teachers to provide ESY, Chapter 15/Section 504, and Speech and Language services during the summer of 2007, in order to complete delivery of

           services for the 2006-2007 school year.

·         Dennis Keiser as a Middle Shift Custodian in the Borough, effective July 1, 2007.  Salary will be 80% of the current hourly rate, to be determined upon approval of a

           new collective bargaining agreement, with benefits.   

·         Listing of Extra Help Reimbursement Rates for Athletic Events for the 2007-08 school year, effective July 1, 2007, through June 30, 2008.

·         Joseph Billy as a PE Health & Physical Education Teacher at the Middle School, effective August 27, 2007, pending receipt of updated and acceptable Act 34 and

           151 clearances.  Continued employment contingent upon receipt of acceptable Act 114 FBI clearance.  His salary will be $49,500.00, with benefits, based on a

           Master’s degree and Step 9, Year 11 of the current salary schedule.   

·         Elizabeth Smith as a LTS German Teacher, effective August 27, 2007, through the end of the first semester of the 2007-08 school year.  Her continued employment

           is contingent upon receipt of an acceptable Act 114 FBI clearance.   Her salary will be $47,844.00, pro-rated with benefits, based on a Doctorate degree and Step 1,

           Year 1 of the current salary schedule.    

·         Justina Black as a LTS Grade 1 Teacher at Lehigh Elementary School, effective August 27, 2007, through the end of the first semester of the 2007-08 school year.  

           Continued employment is contingent upon receipt of acceptable Act 114 FBI clearance.  Her salary will be $41,550.00, pro-rated with benefits, based on a BA

           degree and Step 1, Year 1 of the current salary schedule.   

·         Jacquelyn McGarvey as a LTS Kindergarten Teacher at Moore Elementary, effective August 27, 2007, through February 1, 2008.  Continued employment is

           contingent upon receipt of updated and acceptable Act 114 FBI clearance.  Her salary will be $44,844, pro-rated, with benefits, based on a MA degree and Step 1,

           Year 1 of the current salary schedule.   

·         Sarah Davis as a TPE Special Education Teacher at Moore Elementary School, effective August 27, 2007Her continued employment is contingent upon receipt of

           an acceptable Act 114 FBI clearance.  Her salary will be $44,844.00, with benefits, based on a MA degree and Step 1, Year 1 of the current salary schedule.   

·         Diane Stettler as a TPE Grade 5 Elementary Teacher at Wolf Elementary School, effective August 27, 2007.  Continued employment is contingent upon receipt of

           acceptable Act 114 FBI clearance.  Her salary will be $41,550.00, with benefits, based on a BA degree and Step 1, Year 1 of the current salary schedule.   

·         Lisa Bragg as a 10-Month Secretary at Wolf Elementary School, effective August 13, 2007, pending receipt of updated and acceptable Act 151 clearance. 

           Continued employment is contingent upon receipt of acceptable Act 114 FBI clearance.  Salary will be $12.80 per hour, 80% of the current hourly rate, in

           accordance with the collective bargaining agreement, with benefits.   

·         Lorie Christein as a LTS Grade 1 Teacher at Moore Elementary School, effective August 27, 2007, through November 21, 2007.  Her salary will be $221.01, per diem

           without benefits, based on a BA degree and Step 1, Year 1 of the current salary schedule.   

·         Attendance of Emily Reinsmith, High School Vocal Music Teacher, at the Music in the Mountains workshop at East Stroudsburg University on August 6-7, 2007,

           at a cost of $120.00.

·         Attendance of Susan Baird and Kathryn Dyslin, ESL teachers, at SIOP training from August 13-16, 2007, at State College, PA, at a cost of $260.00.

·         Attendance of Adrea Diehl and Melissa Medei, special education teachers, at the New Teacher Workshop in Harrisburg, PA, on June 21-22, 2007, at a cost of

           $100.00.

·         Attendance of Linda Hayes, Family and Consumer Science (FCS) teacher, at the Temple University FCS Academy in Schnecksville, PA, on June 21-22, 2007, at a

           cost of $47.00.

·         Tara Gray as a TPE Graphic Arts Teacher at the High School, effective August 27, 2007, pending receipt of PA certification.  Her continued employment is

           contingent upon receipt of an acceptable Act 114 FBI clearance.  Her salary will be $51,000.00, with benefits, based on a MA +45 degree and Step 9, Year 9 of the

           current salary schedule.   

·         Adoption of Policy 823 - Compliance with Employment Eligibility Clearances and the deletion of Policy 4:08 - Guidelines for Implementing Act 34 of 1985 and Policy

           5:23 - Guidelines for Implementing Act 151 of 1994.  All actions to be effective June 19, 2007.

·         Plumbing change orders for Worth & Company on the HS project:

   PCO-006 - $17,913.06 - Revise gas piping in the new kitchen per sketch SK-P09.

   PCO-007 - $17,214.24 - Revise acid waste piping in kitchen where PVDF piping is required.

   PCO-009 - $28,042.59 - Provide gas supplies to nine teachers’ desks per architects RFP-4.

   PCO-010 - $28,815.90 - Provide 2” copper water line to baseball field. (This was done to eliminate the Owners second water meter. There will be future savings by  

   performing this work.)

·         Acceptance of the approval of PlanCon Part I: Interim Reporting #2 - for the HS Renovation/Additions Project No. 3179.

·         One-year subscription (July 1, 2007 - June 30, 2008) with Lightspeed Systems for content filtering and security software at a cost of $8,700.

·         Awarding of the 2007-2008 Fuel Bid to Willow Creek Fuels, Inc. of Fleetwood, PA, as follows:

   #2 Fuel oil (Tank Transport) @ $2.1465 per gallon.

   #2 Fuel oil (Consumer Tank Wagon) @ $2.1465 per gallon.

   #87 Unleaded Gasoline @ $2.5490 per gallon.

   Ultra-Low Sulphur Diesel (Consumer Tank Wagon) @ $2.3830 per gallon.

   Winterized ULS Diesel (Consumer Tank Wagon) @ $2.4130 per gallon.

   Off-Road Diesel (Consumer Tank Wagon) @ $2.2615 per gallon

·        Sixty month lease with Xerox to upgrade the following copiers:

·         Service contract with IU20 to provide various online professional development services for Northampton Area Para-Educators, teaching assistants and

·         Awarding of the contract for Band Uniforms to DeMoulin Brothers & Co., of Greenville, IL, at a cost of $43,786.80.

·         Settlement agreement for a special education student at an approximate maximum cost of $114,725.00 for the 2007-2008 school year.

·         2006-07 Budget Transfers.

·         Contract with Dr. James C. Wasson, Nazareth, to act as the school doctor for a three year period beginning July 1, 2007, through June 30, 2010.

·         2007-08 Ala Carte prices for the Cafeteria Program.

·         Expulsion Hearing Waiver for Student Number 2007-11.
