At the regular meeting of the Board of Education, Chris Haller, DíHuy Engineering, gave updates on the High School and Siegfried (Wolf) projects.  Mr. Gogel presented the Facilities Committee report.  Mr. Koch gave an update on the Public Library

 

The Board approved the following:

 

         Administrative job descriptions, effective July 17, 2007: Director of Curriculum and Instruction, Director of Special Education, Instructional Technology Specialist, Accounting Supervisor, Transportation Supervisor, and Administrator for Human Resources.

         Resignation of Susan Kistler from the position of Grade 5 Teacher at Moore Elementary School, effective August 26, 2007.

         Half-year sabbatical for Tammie Partridge, Art Teacher at the Middle School, for the purpose of professional development, for the second semester of the 2007-08 school year, with the option to finish the sabbatical during the second semester of the 2008-09 school year.  Ms. Partridge will return to the classroom on the first day of the 2008-09 school year.

         Voluntary transfer of Bridgette Bailey from Grade 5 Teacher at George Wolf Elementary School to Grade 6 Teacher at Siegfried (Wolf) Elementary School, effective August 27, 2007.

         Revised list of head coaches and assistant coaches with their designated salaries, in accordance with the collective bargaining agreement, for the 2007-2008 school year, effective July 1, 2007, through June 30, 2008.  Dennis Roman, Stephen Fedorak, Jason Cudzil, Korey Ebert, and Joseph Kovacs are pending receipt of clearances and TB tests.

         Revised substitute rates for the 2007-2008 school year, effective July 1, 2007: Instructors - $90.00 for the first 20 days and $100.00 thereafter, Secretaries - $9.60/hour, Instructional Assistants - $7.31/hour, Lunchroom and Hall Monitors - $7.15/hour, and Substitute custodians - 60% of the starting wage rate of the custodial agreement.

         Christine Wittreich as a Special Education Instructional Assistant at Washington Elementary School, effective August 27, 2007, pending receipt of updated and acceptable Act 151 clearance.  Her continued employment is contingent upon receipt of acceptable Act 114 FBI clearance.  Salary will be $9.00 per hour, 80% of the current hourly rate, in accordance with the collective bargaining agreement, with benefits.   

         Connie Praetorius as a Cafe Monitor at George Wolf Elementary School, effective August 29, 2007.  Her continued employment contingent upon receipt of acceptable Act 114 FBI clearance.  Salary will be $9.00 per hour, 80% of the current collective bargaining rate, no benefits.   

         Devin Morris as a maintenance department student summer helper, with a compensation rate of $7.15 per hour, no benefits, effective retroactive to July 2, 2007.  Continued employment is contingent upon receipt of acceptable Act 151 and Act 114 clearances.

         Christine Steigerwalt to serve as a half day teacher, half day administrative assistant for the 2007-2008 school year.  She will continue to earn her full teacher salary of $73,500.00, with benefits, and her head teacher stipend of $2,438.00.

         Nancy Stover as a Temporary Instructional Assistant at George Wolf Elementary School, effective August 27, 2007, through December 15, 2007.  Her continued employment is contingent upon receipt of acceptable Act 114 FBI clearance.  Her salary will be $9.00 per hour, 80% of the current hourly rate, in accordance with the collective bargaining agreement, with benefits.  

         Jenna Sterner and Angie Schaffer as High School Indoor Twirling Co-Advisors, effective July 16, 2007, for the 2007-2008 school year, pending receipt of acceptable Act 151 clearances.  Continued employment is contingent upon receipt of acceptable Act 114 FBI clearances.  The annual stipend of $1,514.00 will be shared equally with each receiving $757.00.

         Jill Stout as a Guidance Non-Instructional Assistant at the High School, effective August 27, 2007.  Her continued employment is contingent upon receipt of acceptable Act 114 FBI clearance.  Her salary will be $9.00 per hour, 80% of the current hourly rate, in accordance with the collective bargaining agreement, with benefits.   

         Lori Scheaffer as a TPE Instrumental Music Teacher/Band Director at Lehigh Elementary School and Siegfried (Wolf) Elementary School, effective August 27, 2007.  Her salary will be $45,053.00, with benefits, based on a MA degree and Step 2, Year 2 of the current salary schedule.   

         Rosemarie Reinhard as a LTS Grade 3 Teacher at Lehigh Elementary School, effective September 22, 2007, through December 21, 2007.  Her continued employment is contingent upon receipt of an acceptable Act 114 FBI clearance.  Her salary will be $225.27, per diem without benefits, based on a BA+15 degree and Step 1, Year 1 of the current salary schedule.   

         Jamie Silfies as a Temporary One-on-One Special Education Instructional Assistant at the High School, effective August 27, 2007.  Her continued employment is contingent upon receipt of acceptable Act 114 FBI clearance.  Salary will be $9.00 per hour, 80% of the current hourly rate, in accordance with the collective bargaining agreement, with benefits.  

         Amanda Mast as a Temporary One-on-One Special Education Instructional Assistant at Lehigh Elementary School, effective August 27, 2007.  Her continued employment is contingent upon receipt of acceptable Act 114 FBI clearance.  Salary will be $9.00 per hour, 80% of the current hourly rate, in accordance with the collective bargaining agreement, with benefits.   

         Seventh kindergarten classroom for the Northampton Borough Elementary Schools for the 2007-08 school year.

         Attendance of Stacy Gober at the PASBO Act 1 Symposium in Hershey, PA, on September 19-20, 2007, at an approximate cost of $466.00.

         Joanna Wittbrodt as a TPE Special Education Teacher at the High School, effective August 27, 2007, pending receipt of PA certification.  Her continued employment is contingent upon receipt of an acceptable Act 114 FBI clearance.  Her salary will be $41,550.00, with benefits, based on a BA degree and Step 1, Year 1 of the current salary schedule.   

         Agreement with Peter L. Pavlovic. 

         Authorization for the preparation and submission of PlanCon Part F, Attachment C - Post Bid Opening Notification for the George Wolf Elementary Renovation/Addition Project No. 3296 to PDE.

         Change order PC-02 for Worth & Company in the amount of $32,296.84 installation of stand pipes in stair A and stair E as required by Northampton Borough on the Wolf/Siegfried Elementary School project.

         Awarding of the bids and alternates, pending receipt of the NPDES permit, for the George Wolf Renovation/Addition project, PDE Project No. 3296 as follows, totaling $14,305,100.
