At the regular meeting of the Board of Education, Mrs. Erdo presented the CIU20 and Legislative reports.  Mr. Politi presented the NCC report.

 

The Board approved the following:

 

         Voluntary transfer of Mary Ellen Zastko from Special Education Instructional Assistant at the Middle School to Special Education Instructional Assistant at Lehigh Elementary School, effective retroactive to August 27, 2007.

         Resignation of Nicole Sharkazy from the position of LTS Half-Time Physical Education Teacher, effective August 17, 2007.

         Resignation of Amanda Mast from the position of Temporary 1:1 Special Education Instructional Assistant, effective August 20, 2007.

         Voluntary transfer of Dennis Keiser from Tuesday through Saturday Custodian at Siegfried Elementary School to Tuesday through Saturday Custodian at the High School, effective September 11, 2007.

         Voluntary transfer of Forrest Koch from Middle Shift Semi-Skilled Maintenance Employee to Day Shift Semi-Skilled Maintenance Employee, effective September 11, 2007.

         Resignation of William Falstich, Assistant Superintendent for Personnel and General Administration, for the purpose of retirement, effective June 30, 2008.

         Resignation of Vernell Hawkins, District Administration Receptionist, for the purpose of retirement, effective October 31, 2007.

         Resignation of Dennis Douvanis from the position of Social Studies Teacher at the High School.  The effective date of the resignation will be in accordance with the sixty (60) day holding provision, up to October 26, 2007, or the securing of his replacement, whichever comes first.

         Resignation of Gregory Mikovich from the position of Special Education Teacher at Moore Elementary School, effective November 26, 2007.

         District Volunteer Master List for the 2007-08 school year.

         Additions and deletions to the Substitute List.

         Revised listing of staff and their compensation for After-School Detention at the High School and Middle School and Activity Bus for the 2007-08 school year (September through the end of the academic year in June).  No additional benefits will be provided.

         Brian Davies as a LTS Half-Time Social Studies Teacher in the High School, effective retroactive to August 27, 2007, through the end of the 2007-08 school year.  His salary will be $41,550.00, pro-rated with benefits, based on a BA degree and Step 1, Year 1 of the current salary schedule.   

         Joshua Shilko as a LTS Half-Time Elementary Physical Education Teacher in the Borough Elementary Schools, effective retroactive to August 27, 2007, through the end of the 2007-08 school year.  Continued employment is contingent upon receipt of acceptable Act 114 FBI fingerprint report.  His salary will be $41,550.00, pro-rated with benefits, based on a BA degree and Step 1, Year 1 of the current salary schedule.   

         Voluntary transfer of Kayann Unangst from Special Education Instructional Assistant at Washington Elementary School to 10-Month Secretary at Washington Elementary School, effective retroactive to August 24, 2007.  Salary will be $12.80 per hour, 80% of the position rate, with benefits in accordance with the collective bargaining agreement.

         Susan Hertzog as a 10-Month Secretary for Security and Transportation, effective retroactive to August 27, 2007.  Continued employment is contingent upon receipt of acceptable Act 114 FBI clearance.  Salary will be $12.80 per hour, 80% of the current hourly rate, in accordance with the collective bargaining agreement, with benefits.   

         Ann Snyder as a Special Education Instructional Assistant at the High School, effective retroactive to August 28, 2007.  Continued employment contingent upon receipt of updated and acceptable Acts 34, 151 and 114 FBI clearancesSalary will be $9.00 per hour, 80% of the current hourly rate, in accordance with the collective bargaining agreement, with benefits.   

         Karin Albert as a Special Education Instructional Assistant at Siegfried Elementary School, effective retroactive to August 27, 2007.  Salary will be $9.00 per hour, 80% of the current hourly rate, in accordance with the collective bargaining agreement, with benefits.   

         Jayme Ainsley to receive compensation of $7.31 per hour for time worked as a Special Education Instructional Assistant at Lehigh Elementary School from August 27 through noon September 4, 2007.  Benefits were not provided during this period.

         Heather Thomas as a Special Education Instructional Assistant at the Middle School, effective retroactive to August 27, 2007.  Continued employment contingent upon receipt of updated and acceptable Acts 34, 151 and 114 FBI clearances.  Salary will be $9.00 per hour, 80% of the current hourly rate, in accordance with the collective bargaining agreement, with benefits.   

         Lisa Jaferis, LTS English Teacher at the High School, effective retroactive to August 28, 2007, through October 31, 2007.  Her salary will be $221.01, per diem without benefits, based on a BA degree and Step 1, Year 1 of the current salary schedule.   

         Donald Wright, Jr. as a Security Officer, effective retroactive to August 27, 2007, as per a three (3) year contract, effective August 27, 2007, through June 30, 2010.  Continued employment is contingent upon receipt of acceptable Acts 151 and 114 FBI clearances.  Salary will be $15.50 per hour, without benefits.   

         Jeffrey Miller as a Security Officer, effective retroactive to August 27, 2007, as per a three (3) year contract, effective August 27, 2007, through June 30, 2010.  Continued employment is contingent upon receipt of acceptable Act 114 FBI clearance.  Salary will be $15.50 per hour, without benefits.   

         Eugene Hatcher as a Security Officer, effective retroactive to August 27, 2007, as per a three (3) year contract, effective August 27, 2007, through June 30, 2010.  Salary will be $15.50 per hour, without benefits.   

         Damien Ciecwisz as a Security Officer, effective retroactive to August 27, 2007, as per a three (3) year contract, effective August 27, 2007, through June 30, 2010.  Continued employment is contingent upon receipt of acceptable Acts 34, 151 and 114 FBI clearances.  Salary will be $15.50 per hour, without benefits.   

         Amy Berrios as a Hall Monitor, effective retroactive to August 29, 2007.  Salary will be $9.00 per hour, 80% of the current hourly rate, in accordance with the collective bargaining agreement, with limited benefits.   

         Sherry Rice as a Temporary Instructional Assistant, effective retroactive to September 4, 2007, for the 2007-08 school year.  Continued employment is contingent upon receipt of acceptable Acts 34, 151 and 114 FBI clearances.  Her rate of pay will be $9.00 per hour, no benefits and will be funded through the Alternative Education Grant.

         Deborah Recker as a Security Officer, effective retroactive to August 27, 2007, as per a three (3) year contract, effective August 27, 2007, through June 30, 2010.  Continued employment is contingent upon receipt of acceptable Act 114 FBI clearance.  Salary will be $15.50 per hour, without benefits.   

         Larry Olsen as a Security Officer, effective retroactive to August 27, 2007, as per a three (3) year contract, effective August 27, 2007, through June 30, 2010.  Continued employment is contingent upon receipt of acceptable Acts 34 and 114 FBI clearances.  Salary will be $15.50 per hour, without benefits.   

         Kevin Kutzler as a Security Officer, effective retroactive to August 27, 2007, as per a three (3) year contract, effective August 27, 2007, through June 30, 2010.  Salary will be $15.50 per hour, without benefits.   

         List of instructors to conduct after-school remediation under the EAP Grant guidelines.  The effective date is October 30, 2007, through the end of the 2007-2008 school year.

         Contract between the Northampton Area School District and Dr. Kenneth Cressman as the Diversified Occupations Program Supervisor for the 2007-2008 school year.  Dr. Cressman will be paid $250.00 per day, plus expenses, for a maximum of 95 days.  The contract will terminate on June 30, 2008.

         Professional status and tenure for the following teachers who have completed three (3) years of teaching and have received six (6) satisfactory evaluations: High School - William Dovico, Krista Green, Angela Munjone, David Remaley; Middle School - Carrie Abruzzi, Meghan Bleiler, Kate Bottjer, Beth Trexler; Moore - Heather Sznoluch; George Wolf - Susan DiCrosta, Doreen Ifkovits; and Lehigh - Brian Muschlitz.      

         Change order MC-02 for Guy M. Cooper, Mechanical Contractor on the Siegfried Elementary Project, to supply fifteen (15) 1.5 ton spot cooler units with duct kit at a cost of $55,917.00.      

         Agreement with Preferred EAP, Allentown, as the Districtís employee assistance provider for the period August 27, 2007, through June 30, 2008, at the following rates:

Utilization <3.0%, $12.00 per employee per year

Utilization between 3.1% and 5.0%, $15.00 per employee per year

Utilization >5.1%, $18.00 per employee per year
