School Board Meeting

At the regular meeting of the Board of Education, Dr. Kathleen Ott and William Conner presented PSSA scores. Mr. Gogel presented the Facilities Committee and BAVTS reports. Chris Haller, DíHuy Engineering, presented the engineer report. Mark Thompson, MKSD, presented the architect report.
The Board approved the following:
∑ Additions to the District Volunteer Master List for the 2007-08 school year: Amanda Mast - Borough and Jennifer Wambold - Moore.
∑ Additions and deletions to the Substitute list.
∑ Resignation of Brad Mushrush from the position of Business Education Teacher and FBLA Advisor at the High School. The effective date of the resignation will be in accordance with the sixty (60) day holding provision, up to November 5, 2007, or the securing of his replacement, whichever comes first.
∑ Resignation of Linda Mann, Real Estate Tax Clerk in District Administration, for the purpose of retirement, effective April 1, 2008.
∑ Revised list of staff and their compensation for After-School Detention at the High School and Middle School and Activity Bus for the 2007-08 school year (September through the end of the academic year in June). No additional benefits will be provided.
∑ Revised list of instructors to conduct after-school remediation under the EAP Grant guidelines. The effective date is October 30, 2007, through the end of the 2007-2008 school year.
∑ Matthew Scholl as a TPE Social Studies Teacher at the High School, effective September 18, 2007. Continued employment is contingent upon receipt of acceptable Act 114 FBI clearance. His salary will be $41,703.00, pro-rated with benefits, based on a BA degree and Step 2, Year 2 of the current salary schedule.
∑ Kathleen Januszewski as a Health Room Assistant in the Borough, effective September 18, 2007, for the 2007-08 school year. Continued employment is contingent upon receipt of acceptable Acts 151 and 114 FBI clearances. Salary will be $9.00 per hour, 80% of the current hourly rate, in accordance with the collective bargaining agreement, with benefits.
∑ List of mentors and payments for the 2007-2008 school year.
∑ Two Hall Monitor positions for the High School.
∑ Attendance of Sara Ertl, Reading Specialist at Lehigh Elementary School, at the KSRA Reading Conference at the Hershey Lodge and Convention Center in Hershey, PA, on October 21-24, 2007, at an estimated cost of $1,005.00.
∑ Diane Nicrone as a Temporary One-on-One Special Education Instructional Assistant at Lehigh Elementary School, effective September 18, 2007, or upon release from her present employer, for the remainder of the 2007-08 school year. Her continued employment is contingent upon receipt of updated and acceptable Acts 34, 151 and 114 FBI clearances. Her salary will be $9.00 per hour, 80% of the current hourly rate, in accordance with the collective bargaining agreement, with benefits.
∑ The following policies, with all policies to be effective September 18, 2007: Policy 351 - Drug-Free Workplace - Administrative Employees, Policy 451 - Drug-Free Workplace - Professional Employees, and Policy 551 - Drug-Free Workplace - Noncertified Employees. The deletion of policy 4:16, Drug-Free Workplace, effective September 18, 2007.
∑ Functional Mathematics Level B Curriculum for grades 9-12.
∑ One (1) year service agreement with Criticom International to monitor the fire alarm panel at the High School at an annual cost of $360.00 ($30 per month).
∑ Bills for Payment.
∑ Treasurerís Report.
∑ Donation from Laidlaw in the amount of $101.05 used to defray the cost of the Districtís annual induction bus trip.
∑ Donation from Aramark in the amount of $180.00 used to defray the cost of the Districtís annual induction luncheon.
