Board Reorganization Meeting

At the Board Reorganization Meeting of the Board of Education, Darin Arthofer took the Oath of Office as a Northampton Area School District School Board Member.  Robert Koch was elected President of the Board and Jean Rundle was elected Vice President of the Board for 2008.  Shelby Smith and Alyssa Figura presented updates on Student Council activities.

 

The Board approved the following:

 

·      Dates for the 2008 Board meetings (first and third Mondays, except for January, February, September, and December).  All meetings are voting meetings:

·      Locations and times for the 2008 Board Meetings:

All Board meetings will be held at the District Administration Building at 6:30 p.m. through August 2008.  Beginning in September 2008, Board meetings will be held at the High School Auditorium at 6:30 p.m.

·      David Gogel to serve on the Bethlehem Area Vocational-Technical School Operating Committee effective January 1, 2008, to December 31, 2010.

Regular Board Meeting

 

December 3, 2007

At the regular meeting of the Board of Education, Dr. Kathleen Ott presented a report on class size.  Chris Haller, D’Huy Engineering, reported walk-throughs would be scheduled at the three construction projects early next year. 

 

The Board approved the following:

 

·      Intermittent unpaid leave for Holly Cloutier, Instructional Assistant at Moore Elementary School, effective retroactive to September 24, 2007.

·      Intermittent unpaid leave for Donna Reph, Instructional Assistant at Lehigh Elementary School.

·      Additions and deletions to the Substitute List.

·      Stephanie Wuchter, LTS Custodian, to continue in this capacity until further notice.  Salary will be $14.24 per hour, in accordance with the current Salary Schedule of the collective bargaining agreement, with benefits.   

·      Attendance of Joseph Kovalchik, Middle School Principal, at the Aspiring To Leadership Conference at Harrisburg, PA, on January 23-24, 2008, at a cost not to exceed $345.88.

·      Temporary One-on-One Special Education Instructional Assistant at the Washington building for the remainder of the 2007-08 school year.

·      Abbey Deshler as an Assistant Indoor Marching Band Instructor, effective December 4, 2007, ending June 30, 2008.  Her annual stipend will be 50% of the annual stipend of $1,515.48, totaling $757.50, with no additional benefits, and is in accordance with the Supplemental Reimbursement for Extra Services of the Collective Bargaining Agreement.

·      Attendance of Michael Monaghan, Principal, George Wolf Elementary School, at the Indoor Air Quality Tools for School Symposium in Washington, D. C., December 6-8, 2007, at no expense to the Northampton Area School District.

·      Valarie Marks as a LTS Grade 3 Elementary Teacher at Siegfried Elementary, effective on or about December 19, 2007, through the end of the 2007-08 school year.  Her salary will be $41,550.00, pro-rated with benefits, based on a BA degree and Step 1, Year 1 of the current salary schedule.   

·      Change order AS-01 for Crest Environmental in the amount of $1,445.70 for removal of approximately 3 cubic yards of stored asbestos shingles and removal of asbestos shingles for the new gym addition at the George Wolf project.

·      Bills for Payment.

·      Agreement for Parent Transportation between the Northampton Area School District and the parents of a student with a disability for the 2007-2008 school year.

·      Authorization for a settlement agreement for a special education student at an approximate cost of $197,421.00 for the 2007-2008 and 2008-2009 school years.
