At the regular meeting of the Board of Education, Jeff Lantzer, along with several students, presented the new band uniforms.  Mr. Gogel presented the BAVTS report.  Mr. Falstich presented the Policy Committee report.  Shelby Smith presented an update on Student Council activities.

 

The Board approved the following:

 

      Job descriptions, effective February 12, 2008: Business Administrator, Kindergarten Teacher, Regular Education Elementary Classroom Teacher, Middle School Teacher, High School Teacher, Learning Support Special Education Teacher, Emotional Support Special Education Teacher and Librarian.

      Voluntary transfer of John Gerancher from Custodian at Franklin Elementary School to Day Shift and Lead Custodian at George Wolf Elementary School, effective February 12, 2008.

      Resignation of Debra Anthony, Health/Physical Education Teacher, Field Hockey Coach and Softball Coach at the High School, for the purpose of retirement, effective June 10, 2008, or the last teacher day of the 2007-08 school year.

      Jennifer Borzillo as a PE Elementary Guidance Counselor at Lehigh Elementary School, effective April 16, 2008, or when released by present employer.  Continued employment is contingent upon receipt of updated and acceptable Acts 34, 151 and 114 FBI clearances.  Her salary will be $53,500.00, pro-rated with benefits, based on a MA+15 degree and Step 10, Year 12 of the current salary schedule.   

      Nancy Wilkin, Rebecca Wagner, and six other chaperones, to be named later, to accompany approximately seventy (70) National Honor Society students to Hershey Park on May 16-17, 2008.  There will be no cost to the district.

      Attendance of Lori Klitsch, Beth Trexler, and Deborah Collins at the Pennsylvania Association of School Nurses and Practitioners (PASNAP) Annual Conference in King of Prussia on March 29, 2008, at a cost to the district of $610.14.

      Voluntary transfer of Lisa Paulus to Temporary One-to-One Special Education Instructional Assistant at Washington Elementary School, effective February 12, 2008. Her salary will be $9.56 per hour, 85% of the current hourly rate, in accordance with the collective bargaining agreement, with benefits.   

      Acceptance of the PDE revision of the temporary reimbursement rate on lease number 064179 and 074179 to 33.91% effective 07/01/2006.

      Acceptance of the PDE revision of the temporary reimbursement rate on lease number 034179 to 33.91% effective 07/01/2003.

      Acceptance of the PDE approval of PlanCon Part H: Project Financing for GW Renovations/Additions Project No. 3296.

      C. Steven Miller, Esquire, as Northampton Area School District Solicitor at an hourly rate of $145.00 for all billable services as stipulated in the solicitorís Revised Proposal for Legal Services and a retainer rate of $5,000 per year to attend up to a maximum of 24 regular Board meetings as advertised at the beginning of each calendar school year, effective March 1, 2008.

      Education services contract with IU20 for Wings for Life during the 2007-08 school year in the amount of $220,800.00, to be subsequently invoiced to the sending school districts.

      Transportation/In Lieu of FAPE Agreement for a special education student.  The estimated cost of the agreement is $10,000.00.

      Nomination of Nicholas Politi as the Northampton Area School District Trustee to the Northampton Community College to fill the upcoming term beginning July 1, 2008.       

      Expulsion Hearing Waiver for High School student number 2008-01. 

      Expulsion Hearing Waiver for High School student number 2008-05.

      Resolution Opposing Proposed High School Graduation Competency Assessments and the submission of the Resolution to PSBA, the State Board of Education, the Independent Regulatory Review Commission, and state legislators.
