At the regular meeting of the Board of Education, Chris Haller, D’Huy Engineering, presented the engineer report.  Mrs. Skrapits presented the Technology Committee report.

 

The Board approved the following:

 

·      Adoption of the tax levy for the 2008-09 school year:

·      Adoption of the 2008-09 General Fund Budget with revenues of $78,241,544 and expenditures of $78,241,544.  This budget is supported by an increase of 1.41 mills.

·      Agreement for Extended School Year services for a middle school student attending an APS to be provided by a teacher from the APS for 24 hours of instruction for the summer of 2008.

·      Execution of a Lease Agreement with the Bethlehem Area School District for the lease of the former Northeast Middle School, 1170 Fernwood Street, situate in the City of Bethlehem, County of Northampton, Commonwealth of PA, 18018.  

·      One-year renewal subscription from July 1, 2008, to June 30, 2009, with Lightspeed Systems for content filtering and security software at $10,875.

·      Authorization to allow Aramark to sell lunches to St. John Neumann, Christ the King  and Our Lady Help of Christians @ $2.10/meal for the 2008-2009 school year.

·      Lunch prices for the 2008-09 school year as follows:

·      Authorization for the Administration to pay final invoices applicable to the 2007-08 budget and to make necessary budget transfers to close the fiscal year in conjunction with Gorman and Associates, P.C., the district’s independent auditor.

These prices reflect a $1.00 increase over the 07-08 student and adult athletic ticket prices.

·      Appointment of Rose M. Roberts as Board Treasurer for the term of July 1, 2008, through June 30, 2009.

·      Amanda Rogers as a TPE Art Teacher at George Wolf Elementary School, effective August 27, 2008, pending receipt of updated and acceptable Act 114 FBI clearance.  Her salary will be $41,550.00, with benefits, based on a BA degree and Step 1, Year 1 of the 2007-08 salary schedule.  Her salary will be adjusted upon the settlement of the new NAEA collective bargaining agreement.

·      Laura McHugh as a TPE Family/Consumer Science Teacher at the High School, effective August 27, 2008, pending receipt of acceptable Act 114 FBI clearance.  Her salary will be $41,550.00, with benefits, based on a BA degree and Step 1, Year 1 of the 2007-08 salary schedule.  Her salary will be adjusted upon the settlement of the new NAEA collective bargaining agreement.

·      Andrew Czekner as a TPE Grade 3 Elementary Teacher, effective August 27, 2008.  His salary will be $46,200.00, with benefits, based on a MA degree and Step 5, Year 5 of the 2007-08 salary schedule.  His salary will be adjusted upon the settlement of the new NAEA collective bargaining agreement.

·      Jennifer Del Valle as a LTS Kindergarten Teacher at George Wolf Elementary School, effective August 27, 2008, through on or about October 31, 2008, or the end of the first marking period.  Her salary will be $225.27, per diem without benefits, based on a BA+15 degree and Step 1, Year 1 of the current salary schedule.  Her salary will be adjusted upon the settlement of the new NAEA collective bargaining agreement.

·      Kathleen Krische as a LTS Kindergarten Teacher in the Borough, effective August 27, 2008, through the end of the first semester of the 2008-09 school year.  Her salary will be $41,550.00, pro-rated with benefits, based on a BA degree and Step 1, Year 1 of the 2007-08 salary schedule.  Her salary will be adjusted upon the settlement of the new NAEA collective bargaining agreement.

·      Matthew Frailey as a TPE Academic Opportunities Program Teacher at the Middle School, effective August 27, 2008.  His salary will be $42,350.00, with benefits, based on a BA +15 degree and Step 1, Year 1 of the 2007-08 salary schedule.  His salary will be adjusted upon the settlement of the new NAEA collective bargaining agreement.

·      Wendy Moreira as a , TPE Grade 3 Elementary Teacher at Siegfried Elementary, effective August 27, 2008, pending receipt of updated and acceptable Act 114 clearance.  Her salary will be $45,053.00, with benefits, based on a MA degree and Step 2, Year 2 of the 2007-08 salary schedule.  Her salary will be adjusted upon the settlement of the new NAEA collective bargaining agreement.

·      Jasmyn Kandel as a TPE Reading Specialist at the High School, effective August 27, 2008.  Her salary will be $46,967.00, with benefits, based on a MA +45 degree and Step 3, Year 3 of the 2007-08 salary schedule.  Her salary will be adjusted upon the settlement of the new NAEA collective bargaining agreement.

·      Dawn Peipher as a LTS Half-Time Elementary Physical Education Teacher in the Borough Elementary Schools, effective August 27, 2008, for the 2008-09 school year.  Her salary will be $20,775.00 (50% of $41,550.00), with benefits, based on a BA degree and Step 1, Year 1 of the current salary schedule.  Her salary will be adjusted upon the settlement of the new NAEA collective bargaining agreement.

·      Andrew Remsing as a LTS Science Teacher at the High School, effective August 27, 2008, for the 2008-09 school year, pending receipt of updated and acceptable Acts 34 and 151 clearances. His salary will be $41,550.00, with benefits, based on a BA degree and Step 1, Year 1 of the 2007-08 salary schedule.  His salary will be adjusted upon the settlement of the new NAEA collective bargaining agreement.

·      Pamela Longacre as a LTS Grade 1 Elementary Teacher at Lehigh Elementary School, effective August 27, 2008, through the end of the first semester of the 2008-09   

        school year.  Her salary will be $44,844.00, pro-rated with benefits, based on a MA degree and Step 1, Year 1 of the 2007-08 salary schedule.  Her salary will be adjusted

        upon the settlement of the new NAEA collective bargaining agreement.

·      Christine Michalerya as a TPE Grade 5 Elementary Teacher, effective August 27, 2008.  Her salary will be $45,780.00, with benefits, based on a MA degree and Step 4, Year 4 of the 2007-08 salary schedule.  Her salary will be adjusted upon the settlement of the new NAEA collective bargaining agreement.

·      Lauren Belowich as a TPE Math Teacher at the High School, effective August 27, 2008, pending receipt of PA certification and updated and acceptable Acts 34, 151 and 114 clearances.  Her salary will be $44,844.00, with benefits, based on a MA degree and Step 1, Year 1 of the 2007-08 salary schedule.  Her salary will be adjusted upon the settlement of the new NAEA collective bargaining agreement.

·      Brian Dravecz as an Assistant Network Specialist, effective date will be July 1, 2008, or when released from present employer, pending receipt of acceptable Acts 34, 151 and 114 clearances.   His annualized salary for 2008-09 will be $52,500.00, with benefits, and is in accordance with the Act 93 Agreement.

·      Susan LaComare as a Health Room Assistant at the Middle School and Elementary level effective August 27, 2008.  Her salary will be $9.36 per hour, 80% of the current hourly rate, in accordance with the collective bargaining agreement, with benefits.   

·      Sarah Goldman as a TPE Music Teacher at George Wolf Elementary School, effective August 27, 2008.  Her salary will be $41,550.00, with benefits, based on a BA degree and Step 1, Year 1 of the 2007-08 salary schedule.  Her salary will be adjusted upon the settlement of the new NAEA collective bargaining agreement.

·      Ann Gaspar as a Health Room Assistant for the Borough, effective August 27, 2008.  Her salary will be $9.36 per hour, 80% of the current hourly rate, in accordance with the collective bargaining agreement, with benefits.   

·      Mechanical change order for Guy M. Cooper as part of the Col. John Siegfried Renovation project:

MC-03 - $902.00 - Repair fuel tank vent due to damages by the GC per RFP MC-007.

·      Agreements to relocate the underground utilities at Col. John Siegfried Elementary School:

Verizon - Relocate underground telephone lines - $4,678.65

Access Fiber Solutions, Inc. - Relocate underground fiber optic cable - $6,345 

·      Authorization for the administration to submit PlanCon Part I: Interim Reporting - Submittal No. 9 for the High School Renovation/Addition Project No. 3179.

·      General construction change orders for Boro Construction as part of the HS Renovation/Additions project:

GC-57 - $  4,186.73 - Add a gutter and downspout/ underground drainage for the front canopy per RFP GC-237.

GC-58 - $  6,132.65 - Paint art room ceilings per RFP GC-238.

GC-59 - ($4,359.95) - Credit proposal for not painting rooms E005 thru E009, per RFP GC-239.  This change order is a decrease to the contract sum.

        GC-05 - $24,680.08 - Revise the existing south parapet per Code Official’s requirements and as indicated on SK-A29 and SK-A29b.

        GC-06 - $ 6,248.94 - Add soffits / ACT in Stair “A” per ASI GC-13 and SK-A49.

        GC-07 - $47,369.74 - Provide all labor and material to provide new floor infill / structure at 2nd floor ramp and for additional demo required due to the new and existing

                                           building alignment per CCPR C-74.

        GC-08 - $12,584.54 - Convert to intruder door locks per Owner’s request.

        GC-09 - $12,577.02 - Provide concrete stairs, railings and all associated demo required for the installation in Boiler Room 120.
