At the regular meeting of the Board of Education, Dr. Ott presented on an Alumni Database/Directory.  Chris Haller, D’Huy Engineering, presented the engineer report.   Ms. Erdo presented the Legislative and CIU20 reports.  Mr. Gogel presented the BAVTS and Facilities Committee reports.  Nick Politi presented the NCC report.

 

The Board approved the following:

 

·      Professional status and tenure for Heather Greene, High School Guidance Counselor, who has completed three (3) years of service and has received six (6) satisfactory evaluations.

·      Voluntary transfer of Krystyna Dalrymple from Grade 1 Teacher in the Borough to Reading Specialist at Moore Elementary School, effective August 27, 2008.   

·      Resignation of David Rispoli, Girls Soccer Head Coach, effective July 1, 2008.

·      Resignation of Tiffany Nagy, Assistant Cheerleading Coach, effective June 30, 2008.

·      Resignation of Krista Feliciani from the positions of Instrumental Strings Music Teacher at George Wolf, Moore and Lehigh Elementary Schools, and Elementary Music Ensemble Advisor for the District, effective August 23, 2008.

·      List of Athletic Volunteer Coaches for the 2008-09 school year.

·      Resignation of Heather Greene from the position of Guidance Counselor at the High School, effective August 25, 2008.

·      Resignation of Gene Kunkle from the position of Custodian at the Middle School, effective June 30, 2008.

·      Resignation of J. Owen Jones from the position of Boys Soccer Head Coach at the High School, effective June 18, 2008.

·      Resignation of Christopher Dyer from the positions of Business Education Teacher and FBLA Advisor at the High School, effective August 25, 2008.

·      Resignation of Andrew Lukievics from the position of NovaNET Instructor at the High School, effective August 26, 2008.

·      Job descriptions, effective July 8, 2008: Gifted Teacher, Healthroom Assistant, Printing Services Coordinator, and Assistant Network Specialist.

·      Resignation of Vincent Sherpinsky from the position of Business Education Teacher, effective July 1, 2008.

·      Revised list of summer school instructors and their reimbursement based on the current Supplemental Reimbursement for Extra Services - Curriculum and Instruction.  Effective date of the program will be from June 20, 2008, through August 1, 2008.

·      Lorie Christein as a TPE Grade 1 Teacher in the Borough, effective August 27, 2008.  Her salary will be $41,703.00, with benefits, based on a BA degree and Step 2, Year 2 of the 2007-08 salary schedule.  Her salary will be adjusted upon the settlement of the new NAEA collective bargaining agreement.

·      Lataisha Diokmedjian as a PE Special Education Teacher at George Wolf Elementary School, effective August 27, 2008.  Her salary will be $43,775.00, with benefits, based on a BA +15 degree and Step 6, Year 6 of the 2007-08 salary schedule.  Her salary will be adjusted upon the settlement of the new NAEA collective bargaining agreement.

·      Chad Schaffer as a TPE Grade 4 Teacher at Siegfried Elementary School, effective August 27, 2008.  His salary will be $41,550.00, with benefits, based on a BA degree and Step 1, Year 1 of the 2007-08 salary schedule.  His salary will be adjusted upon the settlement of the new NAEA collective bargaining agreement.

·      Voluntary transfer of Eileen Butler from 12-Month Secretary at the High School to Secretary to the Principal at the Middle School, effective July 8, 2008.  Her salary will be $16.89 per hour, 95% of the current hourly rate, in accordance with the collective bargaining agreement, with benefits.   

·      List of Athletic Event Staff for the 2008-09 school year, effective July 1, 2008, through June 30, 2009.

·      Tentative Agreement with the Northampton Area Maintenance Association as presented effective July 1, 2008, through June 30, 2012 with a completed contract to be presented at a later date.

·      List of head coaches and assistant coaches with their designated stipends, in accordance with the current collective bargaining agreement, for the 2008-2009 school year, effective July 1, 2008, through June 30, 2009, for the appropriate sport season.   The stipends will be adjusted upon the settlement of the new NAEA collective bargaining agreement.

·      Attendance/participation of Emily Reinsmith, Choral Director, and Ryan Mertz, Orchestra Director, and approximately 40 students at Musicfest in Orlando, FL from March 26-30, 2009, at a total cost to district of approximately $4,300.00.

·      Attendance of Silke Keeler, Network Specialist, at system administration technical training at IU13 in Lancaster, PA, from Aug 18 - 22, 2008, at an approximate cost of $880.00.

·      Attendance of Wilfred Williams, School Police Officer, at the National Association of School Safety and Law Enforcement Officers (NASSLEO) 39th Annual Conference on July 14-16, 2008, in Philadelphia, at an approximate cost of $765.00.

·      Glenn Fox as a Custodian (Tuesday through Saturday) at George Wolf Elementary School, effective July 8, 2008.  His salary will be $14.81 per hour, 80% of the current hourly rate, in accordance with the collective bargaining agreement, with benefits.  Continued employment is contingent upon receipt of an acceptable Act 114 FBI Fingerprint clearance. 

·      Stephanie Wuchter as a Custodian (Tuesday through Saturday) at Siegfried Elementary School, effective July 8, 2008.  Her salary will be $15.73 per hour, 85% of the current hourly rate, in accordance with the collective bargaining agreement, with benefits.  Continued employment is contingent upon receipt of an acceptable Act 114 FBI Fingerprint clearance.

·      Glenn Mohrey as a 3rd Shift Custodian at the High School, effective July 8, 2008.  His salary will be $14.81 per hour, 80% of the current hourly rate, in accordance with the collective bargaining agreement, with benefits. 

·      The following policies, effective August 27, 2008: Policy 814 - Copyright Policy, Policy 816 - Data Breach, Policy 817 - Privacy, and Policy 824 - Terms of Use.

·      Textbook Adoptions for the 2008-2009 School Year for Mathematics, Science, Social Studies, Business, and Music, for a total cost of $464,755.57.

·      Acceptance of the approval of PlanCon Part I: Interim Reporting for the George Wolf Elementary School Renovation/ Additions Project No. 3296.

·      General construction change order for Bracy Contracting, Inc. as part of the George Wolf Renovation project:

GC-01 - $148,347.40 - Multi-purpose field infiltration bed revisions per PADEP requirements.

·      Ott’s Paving to install a macadam lane parallel to Stadium Drive at a cost of $5,565.00.

·      Five (5) year service agreement with Johnson Controls, Inc. for Facility Management Systems at Siegfried, George Wolf, Lehigh, Moore and the High School for the period July 1, 2008, through June 30, 2013, at the following costs:

Year 1 - July 1, 2008, through June 30, 2009, at a cost of $28,639.00

Year 2 - July 1, 2009, through June 30, 2010, at a cost of $30,297.00

Year 3 - July 1, 2010, through June 30, 2011, at a cost of $31,206.00

Year 4 - July 1, 2011, through June 30, 2012, at a cost of $32,143.00

Year 5 - July 1, 2012, through June 30, 2013, at a cost of $33,107.00

·      General construction change orders for Perrotto Builders as part of the Siegfried Renovation/Additions project:

GC-10- $21,793.89 - Provide and install new thru-wall flashing above the rook at the Boiler Room and Delivery areas per CCPR GC-60.

GC-11 - $ 7,292.19 - Install new guardrails and window trim in Stair “A” per CCPR GC-68.

GC-12 - $ 5,663.61 - Relocate the entry to Toilet Rooms ll4 and ll5 per the Owner’s request and adjust the 1st floor ramp per CCPR GC-69.

GC-13 - $13,598.40 - Add additional walls in Stair “E”, provide and install epoxy paint behind railings on the 2nd and 3rd floors, provide and install an electric strike on the door Stair E-A, relocate door 154-C per DEI field comments.

GC-14 - $ 8,021.45 - Provide and install new flooring and base in rooms 222 and 226 as indicated on SK-A47 and per CCPR GC-85.

·      Plumbing change order for Jay R. Reynolds as part of the George Wolf project:

PC-01 - $6,802.00 - Refer to RFP PC-03 dated 5/28/08; JRRJ letter dated 6/13/08.

·      Awarding of contract for Mold Remediation for the George Wolf Elementary School to Sargent Enterprises, of Jim Thorpe, at a cost of $378,224.

·      Acceptance of the approval of PlanCon Part I: Interim Reporting #9 for the High School Renovation/ Additions Project No. 3179.

·      Change order for Boro Construction, General Construction Contractor, as approved by PDE for the High School project:

GC-56 - $15,417.61 - Provide and install a concrete pad at the existing dumpster pad and re-grade the approach to the loading dock per the Owner’s request.  (Chain link fence and other associated expenses have been deleted.)

·      Authorization for the administration to submit PlanCon Part I: Interim Reporting - Submittal No. 10 for the High School Renovation/Addition Project No. 3179.

·      Plumbing change order for Worth and Company as part of the High School  Renovation/Additions project:

PC-10 - $ 5,264.39 - Modify sprinkler heads in Stairs “B”, “C”, Elevator Machine Room E151c and TV Studio E147a due to the requirement for installing ACT systems per RFP P-11 and PCO #PC-23.

·      General construction change order for Boro Construction as part of the HS Renovation/Additions project:

GC-60 - $1,030.31- Upgrade the wall located between E187 and E187a from hat track/GWB over existing masonry to a full height Type 12 partition.

·      Electrical change order for The Farfield Company as part of the HS Renovation/ Additions project:

EC-52 - $ 1,644.00 - Add new light fixtures in “jewelry hood” per RFP E-25 and COR 163.

·      Agreement with Preferred EAP, Allentown, as the District’s employee assistance provider for the period July 1, 2008, through June 30, 2009, at the following rates:

Utilization <3.0%, $12.60 per employee per year

Utilization between 3.1% and 5.0%, $15.60 per employee per year

Utilization >5.1%, $18.60 per employee per year

·      Bills for Payment.

·      2008-09 maintenance agreement with ITS Mailing Systems, Norristown PA, for the district folding machine at an annual rate of $950.00.

·      Reappointment of NASD Business Office as tax collector for Bath Boro and Chapman Boro, as well as Allen Township, Moore Township, and East Allen Township, due to the tax collectors’ decision to relinquish their right to collect 2008-09 NASD taxes.

·      Authorization for the administration to execute a contract with PenTeleData for wide area network communications services to the Bethlehem Area School District Network Operations Center for a one time setup fee of $480 and a monthly service fee of $410 for a period of one year, effective July 1, 2008.

·      Elementary Handbooks for the 2008-09 school year.

·      Middle and High School Handbooks and Sign/Off permission Forms Booklet for the 2008-09 school year.

·      Donation from the Northampton Area School District Employees Credit Union of 100 copies of the book ‘Your Checking Account’, valued at $295.00.

·      Donation of $200 from Dr. Alex Feig, DDS for the Northampton Area School District Dental program.

·      Sports Club to organize and meet under the direction of Mr. John Davis at no expense to the district.

·      Green Team to organize and meet under the direction of Mrs. Rebecca Wagner and Mr. Michael Keglovits at no expense to the district.

·      Appointment of Jane Erdo and Cory Fenstermaker as the Board representatives to serve as the Northampton Area School District voting delegates to the PSBA conference in Hershey, October 16, 2008.
