At the regular meeting of the Board of Education, Mr. Conner and Dr. Ott presented New Grant Funding Sources.  Mr. Gogel presented the Facilities Committee report.  Mrs. Rundle presented the Athletic Facilities Committee report.  Mr. Haller, D’Huy Engineering, presented the engineer report. 

 

The Board approved the following:

 

·      Resignation of the following lunchroom monitors, retroactive to July 22, 2008: Pat Hall and Susan Beers.

·      Resignation of Andrew Remsing from the position of LTS Science Teacher, effective July 22, 2008.

·      The following job descriptions, effective August 5, 2008: Hall Monitor and Printing Services Coordinator.

·      Voluntary transfer of Anthony Messina from 2nd shift Custodian at the High School to 2nd shift Custodian at George Wolf Elementary School, effective August 5, 2008. 

·      Resignation of Justin Kondikoff from the position of Assistant Football Coach at the High School, effective July 10, 2008.

·      Theresa Wenck as a TPE German Teacher at the High School, effective August 27, 2008.  Her salary will be $44,197.00, with benefits, based on a BA+15 degree and Step 7, Year 7 of the 2007-08 salary schedule.  Her salary will be adjusted upon the settlement of the new NAEA collective bargaining agreement.

·      Revised list of Athletic Event Staff for the 2008-09 school year, effective July 1, 2008, through June 30, 2009.

·      Revised list of head coaches and assistant coaches with their designated stipends, in accordance with the current collective bargaining agreement, for the 2008-2009 school year, effective July 1, 2008, through June 30, 2009, for the appropriate sport season.   The stipends will be adjusted upon the settlement of the new NAEA collective bargaining agreement.  Veronica Paules, Joseph Pollock, Craig Carvin and Kellie Csrenko are pending receipt of clearances.

·      Sandra Dieter as Printing Services Coordinator, effective August 6, 2008.  Continued employment is contingent upon receipt of acceptable Act 114 clearance.  Her salary will be $31,500.00 annually, with benefits, in accordance with the Confidential Employees’ agreement.

·      District Coordinators and their compensation(s) for the 2008-2009 school year.  Upon settlement of the NAEA collective bargaining agreement, a revised listing will be brought to the Board for approval.

·      List of Extra-Curricular & Supplemental Positions for the 2008-2009 school year, effective July 1, 2008, through June 30, 2009.  Upon settlement of the NAEA collective bargaining agreement, a revised listing will be brought to the Board for approval.

·      Christina Thrash as a PE Guidance Counselor at the High School, effective August 27, 2008, or when released by current employer.  Continued employment is contingent upon receipt of updated and acceptable Acts 34, 151, and 114 clearances.  Her salary will be $46,200.00, with benefits, based on a MA degree and Step 5, Year 5 of the 2007-08 salary schedule.  Her salary will be adjusted upon the settlement of the new NAEA collective bargaining agreement.

·      Marilyn Detrick as an Assistant Director of Special Education, effective August 27, 2008, or when released from present employer.  Her annual salary will be $75,500.00, with benefits, and is in accordance with the Act 93 Agreement.

·      Danielle Voth as a LTS Science Teacher at the High School, effective August 27, 2008, for the 2008-09 school year.  Her salary will be $41,550.00, with benefits, based on a BA degree and Step 1, Year 1 of the 2007-08 salary schedule.  Her salary will be adjusted upon the settlement of the new NAEA collective bargaining agreement.

·      Ashley Greb as a Temporary One-to-One Special Education Instructional Assistant at Siegfried Elementary School, effective August 27, 2008, for the 2008-09 school year. Her salary will be $9.95 per hour, 85% of the current hourly rate, in accordance with the collective bargaining agreement, with benefits.  

·      Denise Herman as a Hall Monitor at the Middle School, effective August 27, 2008.  Her continued employment is contingent upon receipt of acceptable Acts 151 and 114 clearances.  Her salary will be $9.36 per hour, 80% of the current hourly rate, in accordance with the collective bargaining agreement, with limited benefits.   

·      Lori Shuey as a Hall Monitor at the High School, effective August 27, 2008.  Her continued employment is contingent upon receipt of updated and acceptable Acts 34, 151 and 114 clearances.  Her salary will be $9.36 per hour, 80% of the current hourly rate, in accordance with the collective bargaining agreement, with limited benefits.   

·      Kimberly Carraghan as a Hall Monitor at the High School, effective August 27, 2008.  Her continued employment is contingent upon receipt of acceptable Acts 34, 151 and 114 clearances.  Her salary will be $9.36 per hour, 80% of the current hourly rate, in accordance with the collective bargaining agreement, with limited benefits.   

·      Maryann Muschlitz as a 12-Month Secretary at the High School, effective August 25, 2008.  Continued employment is contingent upon receipt of acceptable Acts 151 and 114 clearances.  Her salary will be $13.31 per hour, 80% of the current hourly rate, in accordance with the collective bargaining agreement, with benefits.   

·      Heather Robson as a One-to-One Special Education Instructional Assistant at Siegfried Elementary School, effective August 27, 2008.  Her salary will be $9.36 per hour, 80% of the current hourly rate, in accordance with the collective bargaining agreement, with benefits.  

·      Keri Kachmar as a Temporary Full-Time Remedial Math Instructor in the High School, effective August 27, 2008, for the 2008-2009 school year.  Her salary will be $46,200.00, with benefits, based on a Master’s degree and Step 5, Year 5 of the current salary schedule.  Her salary will be adjusted upon the settlement of the new NAEA collective bargaining agreement.  Salary and benefit costs to be paid by the EAP Grant.   

·      Martin Lynn as a TPE Business Education Teacher at the High School, effective August 27, 2008.  His salary will be $42,350.00, with benefits, based on a BA+15 degree and Step 1, Year 1 of the 2007-08 salary schedule.  His salary will be adjusted upon the settlement of the new NAEA collective bargaining agreement.

·      Sherri Burke as a TPE Nova NET Instructor at the High School, effective August 27, 2008.  Her salary will be $41,550.00, with benefits, based on a BA degree and Step 1, Year 1 of the 2007-08 salary schedule.  Her salary will be adjusted upon the settlement of the new NAEA collective bargaining agreement.

·      Todd Beidleman as a Temporary One-to-One Special Education Instructional Assistant at an off-site location to be determined, effective August 27, 2008, for the 2008-09 school year.  His salary will be $9.95 per hour, 85% of the current hourly rate, in accordance with the collective bargaining agreement, with benefits.  

·      Douglas Boyer as a LTS Half-Time Social Studies Teacher in the High School, effective August 27, 2008, through the end of the 2008-09 school year.  His salary will be $20,775.00 (50% of $41,550.00), with benefits, based on a BA degree and Step 1, Year 1 of the current salary schedule.  His salary will be adjusted upon the settlement of the new NAEA collective bargaining agreement.

·      Adoption of the following policies:  Policy 626 - Job Related Expenses, effective August 5, 2008, and Policy 236 - Student Assistance Program, effective August 27, 2008.

·      Plumbing change orders for Worth and Company as part of the Col. John Siegfried Elementary School Project:

PC-04 - $8,515.32 - Relocate the fire department connection per the Code Officials requirements and per PCO7.

PC-05 - $3,322.02 - Provide and install one sprinkler head in mechanical shaft per the Code Officials requirements and per PCO-8.

·      General construction change orders for Boro Construction as part of the High School Renovation/Additions project:

GC-62 - $7,846.79 - Temporary relocation of lockers, permanent relocation at the end of Phase 3 - revised.

GC-63 - $9,995.00 - Remove and dispose of the existing planetarium dome (revised) per RFP GC-150A.

·      General construction change order for Perrotto Builders, as part of the Col. John Siegfried Renovation project:

GC-15 - $17,582.11 - Revised sanitary sewer tie-in in 17th Street due to the Borough of Northampton’s requirements and unforeseen conditions and per CCPR GC-83R2.

·      Authorization for the administration to submit PlanCon Part I: Interim Reporting - Submittal No. 2 for the George Wolf Renovation Project No. 3296.

·      Agreement with TSA Consulting Group, Inc to provide 403(b) compliance administrative services for a five (5) year period starting August 1, 2008, through July 31, 2013. 

·      Bills for Payment.

·      Awarding of the bid for the purchase of a used backhoe to Plasterer Equipment Co., Inc., Bethlehem, for $31,125.

·      Prepare and solicit bids for a dump truck for the maintenance department.

·      Send letter to PPL Corporation opposing the proposal to install power lines on district properties.
