At the regular meeting of the Board of Education, Deb Kachel, PPL Right of Way Agent, answered questions regarding the power lines on the Route 329 property.  Chris Haller, D’Huy Engineering, presented an update on the mold remediation at the Middle School.  Dr. Ott presented an update on the grant for summer school lunches.  Mr. Koch presented the BAVTS report.

 

The Board approved the following:

 

·      Updated job description for the following position: Athletic Trainer.

·      Resignation of Jason Hadinger, Maintenance Student Summer Helper, effective July 14, 2009.

·      Rachel Fisher, LTS Math Teacher at the Middle School, effective August 27, 2009, to on or about October 30, 2009. Her salary will be $248.59, per diem without benefits, based on a MA degree and Step 1, Year 1 of the current salary schedule. 

·      Jennifer Del Valle as a LTS Grade 1 Teacher at Lehigh Elementary School, effective August 27, 2009, through on or about March 30, 2010.  Her salary will be $44,102.00, pro-rated with benefits, based on a BA +15 degree and Step 1, Year 1 of the current salary schedule.

·      William Laky as a 3rd Shift Custodian at the High School, effective July 28, 2009.  His rate of pay will be $15.40 per hour, 80% of the current hourly rate, in accordance with the collective bargaining agreement, with benefits.   

·      John Turk as a 3rd Shift Custodian at the High School, effective July 28, 2009.  His rate of pay will be $15.40 per hour, 80% of the current hourly rate, in accordance with the collective bargaining agreement, with benefits. 

·      Dawn Peipher as a LTS Half-Time Elementary Physical Education Teacher in the Borough Elementary Schools, effective August 27, 2009, for the 2009-2010 school year.  Her salary will be $43,302, pro-rated with benefits, based on a BA degree and Step 1, Year 1 of the current salary schedule. 

·      Listing of Extra Help Reimbursement Rates for Athletic Events for the 2009-10 school year, effective July 1, 2009, through June 30, 2010.

·      Amanda Conner as a LTS Art Teacher at Siegfried Elementary School, effective August 27, 2009, for the 2009-2010 school year.  Her salary will be $43,302.00, with benefits, based on a BA degree and Step 1, Year 1 of the current salary schedule. 

·      Elisabeth Walakovits as a LTS Art Teacher at the Middle School, effective on or about October 23, 2009, to on or about January 22, 2010, pending receipt of acceptable Act 114 FBI clearance.  Her salary will be $230.33, per diem without benefits, based on a BA degree and Step 1, Year 1 of the current salary schedule. 

·      Jennifer Parvel as a TPE Grade 5 Teacher at Lehigh Elementary School, effective August 27, 2009.  Her salary will be $46,735.00, with benefits, based on a Master’s degree and Step 1, Year 1 of the 2009-2010 salary schedule. 

·      Laura Costantini as a TPE Speech & Language Teacher in the Borough, effective August 27, 2009, pending receipt of acceptable Acts 34, 151 and 114 clearances, and pre-employment drug testing.  Her salary will be $46,735.00, with benefits, based on a Master’s degree and Step 1, Year 1 of the 2009-2010 salary schedule. 

·      Pamela Longacre as a PE Grade 1 Teacher at Moore Elementary School, effective August 27, 2009.  Her salary will be $57,320.00, with benefits, based on a Master’s degree and Step 11, Year 11 of the 2009-2010 salary schedule. 

·      Listing of Marching Band Assistants for the 2009-2010 school year, effective retroactive to July 1, 2009, through June 30, 2010.  The stipend will be $1,650 per person.

·      Release and Settlement Agreement based on the intent of the Mediation Agreement for a special education student not to exceed $8,250.00 for the 2008-2009 school year.  The Agreement will be reviewed annually each July 1.

·      Bills for Payment.

·      Treasurer’s Report.

·      Tax Exonerations.

·      Agreement with Preferred EAP, Allentown, as the District’s employee assistance provider for the period July 1, 2009, through June 30, 2010, at the following rates:

Utilization <3.0%                                  - $12.60 per employee per year

Utilization between 3.1% and 5.0%   - $15.60 per employee per year

Utilization >5.1%                                  - $18.60 per employee per year

·      One-year agreement with Dauphin Datacom for maintenance and support of 3COM networking devices at a total cost of $5,670.70.

·      PenTeleData to provide Internet services at a cost of approximately $2,200 per month for a period of 1 year (term 8/01/2009 - 7/30/2010).

·      Lunch prices for the 2009-10 school year as follows:

·      Aramark to sell lunches to St. John Neumann, Christ the King and Our Lady Help of Christians Schools @ $2.10/ meal for the 2009-2010 school year.

·      2009-10 Ala Carte prices for the Lunch Program.

·      Awarding of the bid for fall sports supplies and equipment for the 2009-10 school year at a total price of $8,962.05.

·      Awarding of the bid for wrestling mats to Resilite Sports Products, Inc., of Sunbury, PA, in the amount of $18,108.75.

·      Proposal from Metro-Tek Electrical Service Company for a Wind Site Assessment, Solar Site Assessment, and Energy Assessment for Moore and Lehigh Elementary Schools at a cost of $8,800.00 which will be refunded with the purchase of one wind, solar, or energy efficiency installation.

·      Donated use of the Middle School/High School cafeterias and gymnasiums by the NASD for the Dakota C. Galusha Memorial Fund - Second Annual Basketball Tournament on March 13-14, 2010, from 8:00 a.m. until 6:00 p.m. 

·      Expulsion Hearing Waiver for High School student number 2009-15.
