At the regular meeting of the Board of Education, Chris Haller, D’Huy Engineering, presented a brief update on the Middle School remediation project. 

 

The Board approved the following:

 

·      Substitute Lists for 2009-10.

·      New job descriptions for the following positions: Math Supervisor, Math Coach, One-on-One Special Education Instructional Assistant, and Athletic Head Coach, effective August 25, 2009.

·      Resignation of Loretta Conway from the position of LTS Speech & Language Teacher, effective August 14, 2009.

·      Memorandum of Agreement, effective August 25, 2009, between the ESPA and the Northampton Area School District, which addresses the employment of One-on-One Special Education Instructional Assistants. 

·      List of Athletic Event Staff for the 2009-2010 school year, effective July 1, 2009, through June 30, 2010.

·      Resignation of William Lerch, Assistant Boys Soccer Coach, effective July 31, 2009.

·      District Volunteer Master List for the 2009-2010 school year.

·      Revised list of mentors and payments for the 2009-2010 school year.

·      Kathleen Bendekovits as a TPE Grade 4 Teacher at Siegfried Elementary School, effective August 27, 2009.  Her salary will be $43,462.00, with benefits, based on a BA degree and Step 2, Year 2 of the 2009-2010 salary schedule. 

·      Attendance of Board Members Jane Erdo, Cory Fenstermaker, and Darin Arthofer at the PASA/PSBA School Leadership Conference in Hershey, PA October 13-16, 2009, at an estimated cost of $3,431.65. 

·      Keri Kachmar as a K-12 Mathematics Supervisor, effective August 27, 2009.  Her salary will be $70,000, pro-rated with benefits, and in accordance with the Act 93 Agreement.  Ms. Kachmar’s salary will be adjusted to the Act 93 Salary Range of $75,000 to $85,000 upon completion of a Pennsylvania Mathematics Supervisory Certificate, Pennsylvania Supervisory Certificate in Curriculum and Instruction with a minor in Mathematics, or a Pennsylvania Principal Certificate K-12.  Ms. Kachmar’s employment is contingent upon the certification requirements set forth in the Memorandum of Agreement dated August 25, 2009.

·      Voluntary transfer of Jaclyn Welsh from Math Teacher at the Middle School to LTS Itinerant Math Coach, effective August 27, 2009, for the 2009-2010 school year.  Salary and benefit costs to be paid by Federal Stimulus Funds.     

·      Rachel Fisher as a LTS Math Teacher at the Middle School, effective August 27, 2009, for the 2009-2010 school year.  Her salary will be $46,735.00, with benefits, based on a MA degree and Step 1, Year 1 of the current salary schedule. 

·      Extra-Curricular & Supplemental Positions for the 2009-2010 school year, effective July 1, 2009, through June 30, 2010.

·      Donna Cesanek as a Temporary One-on-One Special Education Instructional Assistant at Moore Elementary School, effective August 27, 2009.  Her hourly rate will be $9.74, 80% of the 2009-2010 hourly rate, in accordance with the Temporary One-On-One Instructional Assistant Conditions of Employment.

·      Matthew Lloyd as a Temporary One-on-One Special Education Instructional Assistant at Moore Elementary School, effective August 27, 2009.  His hourly rate will be $9.74, 80% of the 2009-2010 hourly rate, in accordance with the Temporary One-On-One Instructional Assistant Conditions of Employment.

·      Scott Lindsay as an Assistant Boys Soccer Coach, effective July 1, 2009, with 0 years experience at a compensation of 80% of 50% the current district supplemental reimbursement, totaling $1,452.00. 

·      Cynthia Heffley as a TPE Special Education Teacher at Lehigh Elementary School, effective August 27, 2009.  Her salary will be $44,102.00 with benefits, based on a BA +15 degree and Step 1, Year 1 of the 2009-2010 salary schedule. 

·      Roseann Sottolano as a Cafeteria Monitor at Moore Elementary School, effective August 31, 2009.  Continued employment is contingent upon receipt of acceptable Act 114 clearance.  Her hourly rate will be $9.74, 80% of the 2009-2010 hourly rate, in accordance with the collective bargaining agreement, no benefits.   

·      Eric Ihling as a LTS Math Teacher at the Middle School, effective August 27, 2009, to on or about October 30, 2009. His salary will be $230.33, per diem without benefits, based on a BA degree and Step 1, Year 1 of the current salary schedule. 

·      Policy 702.1 - Memorials, effective August 25, 2009.

·      Revised and new curricula in: Art, Business, Physical Education and Health, Mathematics, Technology, World Languages, Science, and Elementary Social Studies.

·      Three (3) year service agreement to Simplex to test and inspect the fire protection sprinkler systems mentioned above at the following costs:

·      Partial payment to Sargent Enterprises, Inc. in the amount of $240,483.60 for 85% completion of the Middle School mold remediation project.

·      Proposal from Blair E. Bates to provide an appraisal of the Route 329 property at a cost not to exceed $1,800.00.

·      Bills for Payment.

·      Treasurer’s Report.

·      Contract with Kimberly Flounders, certified Wilson Reading Instructor, for the 2009-2010 school year, at a cost not to exceed $6,400.00.

·      Tax Exonerations.

·      Adoption of the “Resolution Urging the Pennsylvania General Assembly to Approve a 2009-10 State Budget that Maintains the Commonwealth’s Commitment to Adequate and Equitable Basic Education Funding” as proposed by the Pennsylvania School Boards Association.

·      Donation to NASD from Apangea Learning, Inc. in the amount of $400.00 to be used in supplementing the Opening Day exercises for faculty and staff on August 27, 2009.
