At the regular meeting of the Board of Education, a hearing was held for the Thomas Paine Charter School.  Lydia Hanner reviewed opening day activities.  Alyssa Figura reviewed Student Council activities.  Mr. Politi presented the NCC report.   Mr. Kovalchik presented the Policy Committee report.

 

The Board approved the following:

 

      Additions and deletions to the Substitute List.

      Resignation of Tara Mushko as After Prom Party Advisor, effective August 20, 2009.

      Unpaid childrearing leave for Amy Gable, Special Education Teacher at Siegfried Elementary School, for the period beginning approximately March 6, 2010, through on or about November 12, 2010, of the 2010-11 school year.

      Half-year medical sabbatical for Brenda Serensits, Math Teacher at the High School, effective for the first semester of the 2009-2010 school year.

      Job descriptions for Department Chairperson, Stage and Lighting Crew Advisor, and Assistant Coach, effective September 15, 2009.

      Resignation of Doris Flandorfer, Family Consumer Science Teacher at the Middle School for the purpose of retirement, effective January 21, 2010, or the last day of the 1st semester of the 2009-2010 school year.

      Addition to the District Volunteer master listing for the 2009-2010 school year: Deborah Pagotto - Lehigh.

      Leave of absence for Dolores Bock, Special Education Instructional Assistant at the High School, for the period beginning August 27, 2009, to on or about December 23, 2009. 

      Revised listing of District Coordinators and their compensation(s), for the 2009-2010 school year, effective July 1, 2009, through June 30, 2010.

      Laura Costantini as a TPE Speech & Language Teacher at George Wolf Elementary School, effective August 27, 2009.  Her salary will be $46,735.00, with benefits, based on a Masterís degree and Step 1, Year 1 of the 2009-2010 salary schedule. 

      Revised listings for Extra-Curricular & Supplemental Positions for the 2009-2010 school year, effective July 1, 2009, through June 30, 2010. 

      Erin Williams as a Temporary AVOPP Instructional Assistant at the High School, effective retroactive to August 27, 2009, for the 2009-2010 school year.  Her salary will be $9.74 per hour, 80% of the current hourly rate, with benefits.  Salary and benefits is anticipated to be partially funded through the Alternative Education Grant with the remainder paid with district funds.

      Professional status and tenure for the following teachers who have completed three years of teaching and have received six satisfactory evaluations:

      Participation of April Krempasky and Theresa Wenck, High School German teachers, in the 2010 German American Partnership Program and to accompany approximately 20 students to Germany for the exchange visit as well as the visitation of the German students to our school.  Total cost to the district for the total program not to exceed $2,700.00.

      List of staff and their compensation for After-School Detention at the high school and middle school and Activity Bus for the 2009-10 school year (September through the end of the academic year in June).  No additional benefits will be provided.

      New administrative position of Elementary Assistant Principal and the subsequent job description, effective September 15, 2009.

      Gwen Whildin as the Boys & Girls Head Swimming Coach, effective for the 2009-2010 school year, at a compensation of 100% of the current district supplemental reimbursement, totaling $7,439.00.  

      List of AM/PM Traffic Duty Monitors and their hourly rates, at all district buildings, effective retroactive to August 31, 2009.

      Mechanical change order for Guy M. Cooper as part of the George Wolf mold remediation: 

MC-04 - $2,002.91 - Remove existing wet insulation and re-insulate at existing AC units. 

      General construction change order for CMG, as part of the HS Soffit Replacement Project:

GC-02 - $31,900.40 - To provide the T&M work to remove and dispose of all existing wood furring from all existing exterior soffits (where it occurred) and replace it with metal furring, as per RFP GC-6.

      Renewal agreement with K12 Systems, Inc. of Allentown, for software licensing, support, and hosting at a cost of $83,487.89 for 2009-2010 school year.

      Contract between the Northampton Area School District and Dr. Kenneth Cressman as the Diversified Occupations Program Supervisor for the 2009-10 school year. Dr. Cressman will be paid $ 275.00 per day, plus mileage, for a maximum of 95 days.  The contract will terminate on June 30, 2010.

      Bills for Payment.

      Acceptance of the 2008-09 Earned Income Tax Audit Report as prepared by local auditors Gorman & Associates.

      Sixty month lease with Xerox for a Model 5665PT networked copier at a cost of $473.00 per month in the Special Education Department.

      3M Library Systems service agreement for the Middle School Library at a total cost of $838.00 for the period of December 1, 2009, to November 30, 2010.

      Contract with the Colonial Intermediate Unit for a one to one instructional assistant to provide services for a Northampton Area School District student diagnosed with Autism in the Autistic Support classroom at Lehigh Elementary School.

      Donation of furniture from The Class of 2009 to the high school.  The total monetary donation from The Class of 2009 is $1,600.00.
