At the regular meeting of the Board of Education, April Krempasky and Theresa Wenck presented the German Exchange students and their American partners.  Rachel Satow presented the Student Council report. 


The Board approved the following:


      Additions and deletions to the Substitute List.

      Continuation of unpaid leave of absence for Dolores Bock, Instructional Assistant at the High School, through May 3, 2010.

      Resignation of Darlene Hughes, Instructional Assistant at Siegfried Elementary School for the purpose of retirement, effective June 11, 2010, or the last day of the 2009-2010 school year.

      Addition to the District Volunteer master listing for the 2009-2010 school year: John Kerbaugh, Jr. - Athletic.

      Resignation of Matthew Rumfield from the position of Natatorium Aide at the Middle School, effective at the end of the day, March 17, 2010.

      Attendance of Tara Mrazik, Tara Mushko, Theresa Barrall, Martin Lynn, and Richard Silvius (four additional chaperones in accordance with DECA Bylaws of one chaperone per seven students), and 34 members of the Northampton Area High School DECA organization at the DECA ICDC (International Career Development Conference) competition in Louisville, KY, on April 24-28, 2010, at a total cost to the district of $1,425.00.

      Lindsey Santanasto as a LTS English Teacher at the High School, effective on or about March 31, 2010, through the end of the 2009-2010 school year.  Her salary will be $230.33, per diem without benefits, based on a Bachelorís degree and Step 1, Year 1 of the current salary schedule. 

      Revised list of mentors and payments for the 2009-2010 school year.

      Debra Butto as a Temporary One-on-One Special Education Instructional Assistant at the High School, effective retroactive to March 16, 2010Her rate of pay will be $9.74 per hour, in accordance with the Temporary On-on-One Instructional Assistant Conditions of Employment.

      List of summer school instructors and their reimbursement based on the current Supplemental Reimbursement for Extra Services - Curriculum and Instruction.  Effective dates for the program will be June 25, 2010, through August 6, 2010.

      Robyn Ginther as Principal at George Wolf Elementary School, effective July 1, 2010.  Salary will be $84,000 annually, with benefits, and in accordance with the Act 93 Agreement.

      Attendance of High School Team and George Wolf Team at the PDE School Improvement Conference on April 6 -9, 2010, in Hershey, PA at a cost to the district not to exceed $2,840.00.

      Temporary bus aide, effective date as soon as possible, for the remainder of the 2009-2010 school year.   The cost will be determined upon filling the position.

      Curtailment and alteration of the education programs effective for the 2010-2011 school year as follows: reduction of the teaching teams at the Middle School from eight (8) teams to six (6) teams; addition of the Extensions Program at the Middle School providing for intervention in reading and mathematics for students at risk of failure; expansion of the Alternative Opportunities Program to include grades 7-12; and reorganization of the High School Gifted Program.  Realignment and furloughs of professional employees will be required to affect the changes.  A letter will be sent to PDE by the Superintendent recommending that PDE approve the curtailment and alteration of the educational programs as approved by the Board.  

      Electrical change order for Wind Gap Electric as part of the George Wolf Elementary School project:

EC-01 - ($140,398.93) - Credit change order to be deducted from the remaining unused allowance balance.

      Bills for Payment.

      Treasurerís Report.

      Tuition rates of $250.00 per two-hour course for resident students and $300.00 per two-hour course for non-resident students for the 2010 summer school program.  Tuition costs for courses less than or greater than two hours will be pro-rated.

      Resolution to amend our Plan Document and Summary Plan Description with the Employee Benefit Trust of Eastern PA for the Federal Mental Health Parity and Addiction Equity Act of 2008 with an effective date of July 1, 2010. 

      Addendum to the Settlement Agreement and Release for a Special Education Student.

      Tax Exonerations.

      PSERS Resolution to be sent to local legislators.

      Total base audit fee of $29,425 with Gorman & Associates, Northampton, to provide Auditing Services for the 2009-10 fiscal year of the General Fund/EIT/and Public Library.
