At the regular meeting of the Board of Education, the Board approved the following:

·         Rescind approval of Katie Biechy on July 23, 2012, LTS Special Education Teacher at the Middle School.

·         Resignation of Mary Ellen Zastko as Library Instructional Assistant at Lehigh Elementary, effective August 17, 2012.

·         Resignation of Sara Walakovits as Assistant Swimming Coach at the High School, effective July 30, 2012.

·         Master Substitute Listing for the 2012-2013 school year.

·         Leave of absence paid, and with benefits, through the use of sick leave, to run concurrently with FMLA leave per Federal Government regulations, for Darryl Meashock, beginning August 20, 2012, through November 12, 2012, or upon receipt of physician’s clearance.

·         Leave of absence paid, and with benefits, through the use of sick leave, to run concurrently with FMLA leave per Federal Government regulations, for Ray Snyder, beginning July 26, 2012, through October 19, 2012, or upon receipt of physician’s clearance.

·         Support Staff transfers effective with the 2012-2013 school year.

·         Resignation of Elena Steidinger as Special Education Teacher at the High School, effective August 15, 2012.

·         Volunteer Athletic Coaches for the 2012-2013 school year.

·         Voluntary transfer of Robert Schaffer from day shift Skilled Maintenance to middle shift Skilled Maintenance, effective August 28, 2012, in accordance with the Collective Bargaining Agreement between NASD and Teamsters Local Union #773.

·         Resignation of Jennifer Fixl as an Instructional Assistant at Siegfried Elementary School, effective August 24, 2012.

·         Cost of $34,102.00 to be recouped from ACCESS billing, for a 1:1 Associate Teacher to support a Northampton student who attends the IU 20 Life Skills Support classroom located at George Wolf Elementary School.

·         Kyla Kutz, Middle School Color Guard Instructor, with a stipend of $941.00, no benefits, pursuant to the current Collective Bargaining Agreement between NASD and NAEA effective for the 2012-2013 school year.  Employment is contingent upon receipt of updated clearances.

·         Two (2) Special Education Instructional Assistants at the Middle School:  Linda Siekonic and Kerri Grube, effective August 27, 2012.  The rate of pay for each candidate will be $10.63 per hour, with benefits, in accordance with the Collective Bargaining Agreement between NASD and ESPA.

·         Virginia Stevenson, Special Education Teacher Long Term Substitute at the High School, effective August 27, 2012, for the 2012-2013 school year.  Her salary will be $46,475.21, with benefits, based on a Bachelor’s+15 Degree and Step 1.

·         Katie Biechy, Grade 4 Elementary/Special Education Long Term Substitute Teacher at Moore Elementary, effective August 27, 2012, for the 2012-2013 school year.  Her salary will be $45,675.21, with benefits, based on a       Bachelor’s degree and Step 1.

·         Pamela Hayford, Special Education Teacher Long Term Substitute at the Middle School, effective August 27, 2012, for the 2012-2013 school year.  Her salary will be $45,675.21, with benefits based on a Bachelor’s degree and Step 1.

·         Frederick Muschko as AM Crossing Guard at Northampton Area Middle School 6:45 AM to 7:45 AM daily at the rate of $10.50 per hour for the 2012-2013 school year.

·         Traffic Duty Monitors and hourly rates, at all District buildings, effective September 4, 2012, through the end of the 2012-2013 school year.

·         Linda Reed, Instructional Assistant in the Borough, effective August 27, 2012.  Her rate of pay will be $11.30 per hour, with benefits, in accordance with the Collective Bargaining Agreement between NASD and ESPA.

·         The following extra-curricular staff and their stipends for the 2012-2013 school year, pending receipt of acceptable clearances:

                              Veronica Bocian – Fall Play Advisor – High School - $2,895.00

                              Robin Leisher – Drama Club Advisor – High School - $2,544.00

·         Ann Reinhard, Instructional Assistant in the Borough, effective August 27, 2012.  Her rate of pay will be $10.63 per hour, with benefits, in accordance with the Collective Bargaining Agreement between NASD and ESPA.

·         Northampton Area High School Comprehensive Plan dated August 27, 2012.

·         Three (3) year services agreement with Oliver Fire Protection of King of Prussia, Pennsylvania, to test and inspect the fire protection sprinkler systems at Franklin Elementary School, Colonel John Siegfried Elementary School, Washington’s Crossing, and the High School with the following costs:

·         Temporary Construction Easement and Compensation Agreement between Atlas Machining & Welding, Inc., Harold M. Keeney, Patsy Keeney, and the Northampton Area School District for use of Keeney’s property for grading and construction staging for the new 6-7-8 Grade Middle School project subject to final review by the Superintendent and District Solicitor.

·         Treasurer’s Report.

·         2011-12 Earned Income Tax Audit Report as prepared by local auditors, Gorman & Associates.

·         Two year extension with Provident Energy Consulting LLC with an updated Resolution for the purchase of electricity at the consulting rate of one mil ($.001) per kilowatt-hour.

·         Agreement with Invo HealthCare Associates, Inc., for Speech and Language services at Colonel John Siegfried Elementary School at a cost not to exceed $50,000.00.  A portion of this amount will be reimbursed through ACCESS funds.

·         Tax Exonerations.

·         Agreements for Undergraduate and Graduate Athletic Trainers between East Stroudsburg University and Northampton Area School District.

·         Continue the Community Education Program with a modified course listing for the 2012-2013 school year with courses starting in January 2013.  The modified course listing would consist of the highest enrolled participants in a course.

·         Law Enforcement Liability Insurance coverage by Scottsdale Insurance Company at a cost of $6,111.27 for the period of September 5, 2012, to September 5, 2013.

·         Bills for Payment.

·         Letter of Assurance/Affirmations by the Board President and the Superintendent of Schools for the Special Education Plan Revision Notice.
