At the regular meeting of the Board of Education, the Board approved the following:

 

       Updated job description for the following position: Non-Instructional Assistant - Counseling Services, effective July 8, 2013.

       Resignation of Robert Schaffer, Skilled Maintenance, for the purpose of super-annuated retirement, effective the end of the day January 31, 2014.

       Revised contract for Mr. Wilfred Williams as the Northampton Area School District School Police Officer for a term beginning July 1, 2013, through June 30, 2014, which includes a salary in the amount of $48,689.79, which represents a 2% increase from his 2012-2013 salary.

       Revised listing of Student Summer Help, along with their compensation rate of $7.25 per hour effective for the summer of 2013.  The listing denotes those students who are pending receipt of acceptable clearances.

       Revised list of teachers to provide Extended School Year (ESY) and Chapter 15/Section 504 Services for the summer 2013.

       Mitchell Thomas, Custodian at George Wolf Elementary, effective retroactive to July 1, 2013.  His base rate of pay will be $16.54 per hour, 80% of the current hourly rate, with benefits, in accordance with the Collective Bargaining Agreement between NASD and Teamsters Local 772.  Employment is contingent upon receipt of acceptable Act 151 clearance.

       Lisa Frederick, Short Term Substitute Mathematics Teacher at the Middle School, effective August 19, 2013, through November 8, 2013, at the per diem rate of $125.00, without benefits.

       Voluntary transfer of Julie DeGroot from Special Educational Instructional Assistant to Non-Instructional Assistant in the Counseling Office at the High School, effective August 19, 2013.

       Kimberly Kochanski, High School Assistant Principal, effective July 13, 2013, or upon release from her previous employer.  Salary will be $75,000.00, pro-rated, with benefits, and in accordance with the Act 93 Agreement.

        Donald Suranofsky, Skilled Maintenance - Middle Shift, effective on or about July 22, 2013.  His base rate of pay will be $22.66 per hour, 90% of the currently hourly rate, with benefits, in accordance with the Collective Bargaining Agreement between NASD and Teamsters Local 772.  Employment is contingent upon receipt of acceptable clearances and drug test results.

        Adoption of the following policies, effective July 9, 2013: 113.2 - Behavior Support; 206 - Assignment Within District; 207 - Confidential Communication of Students; 208 - Withdrawal From School; 211 - Student Accident Insurance; 218 - Student Discipline; 610 - Purchases Subject to Bid/Quotation; 611 - Purchases Budgeted; and 709 - Building Security.

       Textbook Adoptions for the 2013-2014 School Year for a total cost of $121,348.73.  All textbook costs are included in the Board approved curriculum budget.

       A three (3) year service agreement with Engines, Inc., of Northampton, Pennsylvania, for service to our Districtís emergency generators at a 0% increase from the current service agreement.  The new service agreement period will be July 1, 2013, through June 30, 2016, at the following rates: Year 1 - 2013/2014 Service $4,561.00 + Load bank test $4,200.00 = $8,761.00; Year 2 - 2014/2015 Service $4,561.00; Year 3 Ė 2015/2016 Service $4,561.00.

       A three (3) year service agreement with Communication Systems, Inc., of Allentown, Pennsylvania, for the High School fire alarm system at the annual amount of $1,980.00 which is a 0% increase from the current service agreement.  This agreement is effective July 1, 2013, through June 30, 2016.

       A three (3) year service agreement with Integrity Mechanical of Plumsteadville, Pennsylvania, for the Districtís boilers at the annual amount of $5,000.00, and their hourly rate of $72.00 per hour for mechanical labor if needed.  This agreement is effective July 1, 2013, through June 30, 2016.

       A three (3) year service agreement with Trane, Inc., for the service and annual coil cleaning of the two (2) chillers at Moore Elementary School at an annual cost of $4,425.00 which is a 0% increase from the current service agreement.  This agreement is effective July 1, 2013, through June 30, 2016.

       A five (5) year service agreement with Johnson Controls, Inc., for service to our Districtís HVACís digital controls computer systems at an annual cost of $33,107.00 which is a 0% increase from the current service agreement.  This agreement is effective July 1, 2013, through June 30, 2018.

       Bills for Payment.

       Appointment of the following Trustees and their terms for the Northampton Area Public Library Board: Mr. Walter Fries - 04/10/2013 to 04/09/2016 and Ms. Donna Pinsley - 05/08/2013 to 05/07/2016.
