At the regular meeting of the Board of
Education, the Board approved the following:
- Additional Professional
Staff transfers effective with the 2014-2015 school year.
- Transfer of Elizabeth
Grammes, Borough Elementary Schools Assistant Principal, to the position of
Assistant Principal at the Northampton Area Middle School effective July 1,
2014, with no increase in salary and in accordance with the Act 93 Agreement.
- Volunteer Athletic
Coaches for the 2014-2015 school year.
- Resignation of Douglas
Fehnel as Boys Volleyball Head Coach, effective after the 2014 Spring season.
- Heather Sznoluch, an
unpaid FMLA childrearing leave, with benefits, per Federal Government
regulations, for the period beginning August 18, 2014, through November 11,
2014, and an unpaid childrearing leave, without benefits, beginning November
12, 2014, through the end of the first semester of the 2014-2015 school year.
- Updated job descriptions
for the following positions: Chief of Police, School Police Officer –
Attendance Officer, Security Officer, and Hall Monitor, effective June 23,
- Employment Agreement
between the Northampton Area School District and Carrie Beleno as Teacher at
George Wolf Elementary School for the 2014-2015 school year at a total salary
of $71,989.00, with benefits.
- Transfer of Carol
Cunningham, Borough Elementary School Teacher, to the position of Principal of
the Borough Elementary Schools effective July 28, 2014, at a salary of
$89,000.00, pro-rated, and benefits in accordance with the Act 93 Agreement.
- Collective Bargaining
Agreement with the Northampton Area Security Association for the term of July
1, 2014, through June 30, 2017.
- Pediatric Therapeutic
Services, Inc., as the provider of Occupational and Physical Therapy Services
to NASD for the 2014-2015 school year beginning July 1, 2014.
- Contracts for two (2)
Approved Private School (APS) teachers who will be providing Extended School
Year (ESY) services for two (2) Northampton Area School District students
attending the APS during the summer of 2014.
- Mr. and Mrs. Brian
Koehler with child, Kymber, to attend the PDE Title I State Parent Conference
at Seven Springs, PA, on June 30 – July 2, 2014, at a cost not to exceed
$1,039.00. The cost of the conference will be covered through the Title I
Parent Involvement funds which have been budgeted specifically for this
purpose. There is no cost to the District for this conference.
- The following Security
Guard employees to work at the High School during the summer of 2014: Ernie
Luengen, Matthew Rutz, and Deborah Recker (one guard on duty per week) at
their regular hourly rate of pay. Approve the following substitute
Security Guards to work at the Middle School, and at the High School, if
needed to cover absences, during the summer of 2014: Francine Gonzalez and
Michael Rehrig (one guard on duty per week) at the approved substitute rate of
- Head coaches and
assistant coaches with their designated payments, effective July 1, 2014,
through June 30, 2015, for the appropriate sport season.
- The following additions
to the Athletic Event Staff for the 2013-2014 school year:

- PlanCon Part H, “Project
Financing” and give approval to submit PlanCon Part H to the Pennsylvania
Department of Education for approval.
- PlanCon Part K, “Project
Refinancing” and give approval to submit PlanCon Part K to the Pennsylvania
Department of Education for approval.
- Resolution authorizing
the School District’s proportional share of lease rental debt to be evidenced
by bonds issued by the Bethlehem Area Vocational Technical School Authority
(“Authority’) for the purpose of the current refunding of the Authority’s
currently outstanding 2009 bonds for interest rate savings.
- Contract with
“Providastaff” for Speech and Language services at Colonel John Siegfried
Elementary School at a cost not to exceed $68,000.00.

Handbook Addenda for the 2014-15 school year.
- Accept, with
appreciation, from Capital Blue Cross the donation of $6,500.00 worth of
student planners including our handbook through Premier Agenda.
- Attendance of Joseph
Kovalchik at the Lehigh University School Study Council 2014 Study Tour to the
University of Albany, SUNY, from September 23, 2014, through September 26,
2014, at an approximate cost of $750.00.
