At the regular meeting of the Board of Education, the Board approved the following:

       Adoption of the following policies, effective July 29, 2014:  317 Ė Conduct/Disciplinary Procedures, 351 - Drugs and Alcohol - Drug and Alcohol Free Workplace, 417 - Conduct/Disciplinary Procedures, 451 - Drugs and Alcohol - Drug and Alcohol Free Workplace, 517 - Conduct/Disciplinary Procedures, and 551 - Drugs and Alcohol - Drug and Alcohol Free Workplace.

        Approve and authorize the President of the School Board after review by the Administration and as appropriate by the District Solicitor to enter into a contract under the stateís cooperative purchase program for the replacement of the six existing poles and sixty-six lights with a four-pole system with sixty lights at a cost not to exceed $475, 000, (cost includes all engineering and architectural fees).  This shall include a 25- year warranty on all parts and labor with a complete bulb replacement at the end of the lamps rated life (approximately 5,000 hours).

       Approve and authorize the President of the School Board after review by the Administration and as appropriate by the District Solicitor to enter into a contract under the stateís cooperative purchase program for a four-pole system for the bus loop field at a cost not to exceed $350,000, (cost includes all architectural and engineering fees).

       Approve and authorize the President of the School Board after review by the Administration and as appropriate by the District Solicitor to execute a Middle School project change order for the removal and replacement of the existing marque sign along Laubach Avenue at a cost not to exceed $65,000, (cost includes all architectural and engineering fees).  The sign will include a message board and identify the high school and middle school secondary campus.

       Approve and authorize the President of the School Board after review by the Administration and as appropriate by the District Solicitor to execute a Middle School project change order to create a memorial area in the lawn by the High School cafeteria patio at a cost not to exceed $48,000, (cost includes all architectural and engineering fees).  The memorial area will serve to replace existing memorials that will be disturbed and removed due to the Middle School Project construction.

       Approve and authorize the President of the School Board after review by the Administration and as appropriate by the District Solicitor to execute a Middle School project change order to install donor pavers in the gathering area by the new stadium entrance at a cost not to exceed $17,500 (cost includes all architectural and engineering fees).  The gathering area by the new stadium entrance is an area that will be disturbed during the Middle School construction and will be restored through the use of the donor pavers.

       Tax Exonerations.

       Year #3  Letter of Agreement between Northampton Area School District and Community Services for Children, Inc., for the purpose of providing a Preschool Program modeled after Head Start Preschool Programs, for twenty (20) Northampton Area School District students at George Wolf Elementary School throughout the 2014-2015 school year at a cost of $180,000.00.  The funding, in total, is paid for and provided through the Keystones to Opportunity/Striving Readers grant.

       Collaborative Agreement/Contract for Services between Community Services for Children, Inc., Head Start of the Lehigh Valley, and Northampton Area School District for 2014-2015 to implement a Head Start Pre-K for twenty (20) 4-yr.old students residing in our District. There is no cost to the District for this program.

       Appoint Darin Arthofer, Michael Baird, and Chuck Longacre as the Board voting delegates to participate in the PSBA Delegate Assembly to be held on Tuesday, October 21, 2014, in Hershey, Pennsylvania.
