At the regular meeting of the Board of Education, the Board approved the following:

       Revised Mentor/Inductee List for the 2014-2015 School Year including the mentors and stipend payment for the 2014-2015 school year.

       Mrs. Tara Mrazik, Mrs. Maryanne Miller, Mrs. Ann Harrington, Mrs. Allison Fiorini, Ms. Leigh Tetor, Mrs. Neali Feimster, Ms. Tara Mushko, Mr. Matt Greenplate, Mr. John Blick, Mr. Andy Peartree, Mr. Ryan Brobst, and Mr. Robert Steckel to attend the PA DECA State Conference along with one hundred and seventy (170) DECA students on February 24, 25, & 26, 2015, in Hershey, Pennsylvania.  Maximum cost to the District will be $10,179.60.  All costs to the District are included in the Board approved 2014-2015 curriculum budget.

       Attendance of Mr. Robert Steckel at the Framework for Intentional and Targeted Teaching Conference in Elizabeth, New Jersey, on April 14-15, 2015, at an approximate cost of $777.00.  The amount is included the 2014-2015 Board approved curriculum budget.

       Ms. Silke Keeler, District Network Specialist, to attend the Pennsylvania Educational Technology Expo & Conference in Hershey, Pennsylvania, on February 9-10, 2015, with an approximate cost of $343.00, which amount is included in the 2014-2015 Technology Services budget.

       Kelly Muschlitz, LTS Grade 6 Teacher at Moore Elementary, effective retroactive to January 20, 2015, through the remainder of the 2014-2015 school year.  Her salary will be $46,050.00, pro-rated, without benefits, based on a Bachelorís degree and Step 1, per the Collective Bargaining Agreement between NASD and NAEA.

       Community Education Spring roster of instructors and stipends for the 2014-2015 school year.

       Carrie Gruber, 12-Month Secretary at the High School, effective February 2, 2015.  Her salary will be $15.69 per hour, 80% of the position rate, with benefits, in accordance with the Collective Bargaining Agreement between NASD and NAESPA.

       Andrea Wells, TPE Elementary Teacher, effective retroactive to January 20, 2015.  Her salary will be $46,661.00, with benefits, based on a Bachelorís degree and Step 2, per the Collective Bargaining Agreement between NASD and NAEA.

       Felicia Strauch, LTS IST Mathematics Teacher at George Wolf Elementary, effective retroactive to January 20, 2015, through the remainder of the 2014-2015 school year.  Her salary will be $46,050.00, pro-rated, without benefits, based on a Bachelorís degree and Step1, per the Collective Bargaining Agreement between NASD and NAEA.

       1.  Approval of Preliminary Budget for 2015-2016.  That the School Board does approve the preliminary budget for fiscal year 2015-2016;  the Revenues and Expenditures are  as follows:

                        General Fund -            $95,188,570

                        Athletic Fund -                 $179,120

                        Food Service Fund -     $2,370,376 

The preliminary budget has been made available for public inspection at least twenty (20) days prior to adoption and public notice of the Boardís intent to adopt the preliminary budget has been given at least 10 days in advance pursuant to Act 1 of Special Session of 2006.

 

2.  Approval to seek Exceptions.  That the School Board does hereby authorize the administration to seek approval from the Department of Education (Department) for certain exceptions allowed under Act 1, that if approved by the Department, will allow the School District to increase the rate of tax levied  for the support of its schools during fiscal year 2015-2016 by more than the index allowed under Act 1 of Special Session 2006.  The Boardís intent to seek exceptions shall be advertised in a newspaper of general circulation and on the Districtís publicly accessible internet site at least one week prior to submitting  the request to PDE.  

 

3. Authorization to advertise the intent to seek Exceptions:  That the School Board does hereby authorize the administration to give notice in a newspaper of general circulation and on the School District's internet site (website) of the Districtís intent to  seek approval from the Department for exceptions.

       Treasurerís Report.

       Agreement with Lehigh University for the rental of Stabler Arena for the 2015 graduation ceremonies at a rate of $8,415.31 plus any actual expenses.

       Tax Exonerations.

       Bills for Payment.

       Creation of a student activity account for the Northampton High School Step Team.
