At the regular meeting of the Board of
Education, the Board approved the following:
- Transfers of
professional staff as revised for the 2015-2016 school year.
- Extension of unpaid
childrearing leave for Cassandra Herr, Grade 2 Teacher at Moore Elementary,
through April 30, 2015, with benefits.
- Kelly Backenstoe, an
unpaid FMLA childrearing leave, with benefits, per Federal Government
regulations, beginning August 24, 2015, through November 3, 2015.
- Amy Gable, an unpaid
FMLA leave, with benefits, beginning March 13, 2015 – PM, through March 27,
2015, as per Federal Government regulations.
- Ms. Michelle Costanzo,
Mrs. Julia Cepeda, Mrs. Tara Gray, Ms. Angela Munjone, Mrs. Donna Weigold,
Mrs. Caramia Trone, and twenty-one (21) students to attend a performance of
the Broadway Show STOMP! in New York, NY, on Saturday, April 25, 2015.
There will be no cost to the District.
- Additions and deletions
to the Substitute Listing for the 2014-2015 school year.
- The following additions
to the District Volunteer Master Listing for the 2014-2015 school year:

- Amy Berrios, an
extension to her unpaid leave of absence through April 24, 2015, without
- Teaching position per
the Agreement between the Board of Education and NAEA, and job description for
Transition Coordinator, effective April 13, 2015.
Authorize administration to post positions for Psychologist and Middle School
Anita Mateyak, Mr. James Chuss, and 14 FBLA students to attend/compete in the
FBLA State Competition and Leadership Conference in Hershey, Pennsylvania, on
April 12, 13, 14, and 15, 2015. Total cost to
the District will not exceed $2,582.00. All costs to the District are included
in the Board approved 2014-2015 curriculum budget.
Listing of Summer School
Instructors and their reimbursement based on the current Supplemental
Reimbursement for Extra Services – Curriculum and Instruction. Effective dates
for the program will be June 22, 2015, through July 30, 2015.
Mrs. Tara Mrazik, Mrs. Maryanne
Miller, Mrs. Neali Feimster, and Mr. Ryan Brobst to attend the DECA
International Career Development Conference
along with thirty-two (32) DECA students on April 24 through 29, 2015, in
Orlando, Florida. If any of the named chaperones are not able to attend the
conference, Jaclyn Grejda will be the alternate chaperone. Maximum cost to the
District will be $1,200.00. All costs are included in the Board approved
Adoption of the following policy,
effective April 14, 2014: 555 Essential Employees.
- 2015-16 Northampton
Community College Budget in the amount of $58,255,018 with the NASD portion of
$733,074 required to fund the budget.
- Three (3) year Agreement
with Gorman & Associates, Certified Public Accountants from Northampton,
Pennsylvania, to provide Auditing Services of the General Fund and Public
Library for a total cost of $28,800 for 2014-15, $28,900 for 2015-16, and
$29,250 for 2016-17.
- Settlement of the tax
assessment appeal filed by Heinz A. Buechele for the tax years 2008-2009,
2009-2010, 2010-2011, 2011-2012, and
2012-2013 for Tax Parcel Nos. K3 10 4 0516 and K3 10 4Q 0516 (located in
Lehigh Township, Northampton County) pursuant to the Stipulation of Counsel
and authorize the District’s Solicitor to execute the Stipulation of Counsel
on behalf of the School District. The Stipulation is effective for School
District taxes on and after July 1, for each year included on the
Stipulation. The Administration is authorized to refund to Heinz A. Buechele
for any overpayments of taxes for the applicable years of the Stipulation and
the tax years of 2013-2014 and 2014-2015. The Board further authorizes
Portnoff Law Associates to satisfy any tax lien for which taxes have been paid
on the property that is the subject of the lien.
for Paper and Janitorial Supplies, Bid No. NMPCJPB-DP/JS-2015-2016, in the
amount of $93,585.50 as awarded by the Northampton/Monroe/Pike County Joint
- Treasurer’s Report.
- Bills for Payment.
- Authorize the
administration to work with PFM for the issuance of General Obligation Bonds,
Series of 2015, in the approximate amount of $10,000,000 for the purpose of
funding a portion of the new Middle School Project, as per the resolution.
- Authorize the
administration to work with PFM for the issuance of a General Obligation Note
or General Obligation Bonds to refund the School District’s General Obligation
Bonds – Series of 2010 for a net minimum savings target of 2%, per the
- 2014-2015 Budget
- Attendance of Board
Member, Mr. Charles Longacre, at an evening mini session at the Annual
Conference of PAGE on Thursday, April 30, 2015, at a cost of $50.00.
- Expulsion Hearing Waiver
for High School student number 2014-10.
- Request of Mrs. Lori
Barz, approved parent volunteer, to chaperone nine (9) students to participate
in the Dance Championship Competition to be held in Wildwood, New Jersey, on
April 29, 30, May 1, 2, and 3, 2015. There is no cost to the District.
- Revised school calendar
for the 2014-2015 school year.
