At the regular meeting of the Board of Education, the Board approved the following:
∑ Kelly Backenstoe, a paid childbearing leave of absence, beginning on or about January 27, 2017, through March 9, 2017, and an unpaid FMLA childrearing leave, with insurance, beginning March 10, 2017, through on or about April 20, 2017, as per Federal Government regulations.
∑ Richard Gladish, an extension to his paid FMLA leave of absence, on November 7, 2016, and his unpaid FMLA leave of absence beginning November 8, 2016, through December 12, 2016, without insurance, as per Federal Government regulations.
∑ Mary Louise Mason an unpaid leave of absence, beginning November 15, 2016, through December 23, 2016.
∑ Resignation of Carol Raikes, 12-Month Secretary, for the purpose of superannuated retirement, effective March 31, 2017.
∑ Wayne Eberly, an unpaid FMLA leave of absence, for medical reasons, beginning October 27, 2016, through December 1, 2016, with insurance, as per Federal Government regulations.
∑ Resignation of Wayne Eberly, Custodian, for the purpose of retirement, effective December 1, 2016.
∑ Additions and deletions to the Substitute List for the 2016-17 school year.
∑ Revised District Master Volunteer List for the 2016-17 school year.
∑ Half -year medical sabbatical for Robin Zamadics, Special Education Teacher at Siegfried Elementary School, effective for the second semester of the 2016-2017 school year.
∑ Kathryn Schaffer, a paid FMLA leave of absence, for medical reasons, beginning December 22, 2016, through March 1, 2017, and an unpaid FMLA leave of absence beginning March 2, 2017, through March 6, 2017, without insurance, as per Federal Government regulations.
∑ Ms. Tammie Tacker as Assistant to the Principal of the Northampton Borough Elementary Schools effective January 2, 2017, until a permanent Assistant Principal is hired.
∑ Revised listing of Traffic Duty Monitors and hourly rates, effective for the 2016-2017 school year.
∑ Janet Colburn, Long Term Substitute Special Education Teacher at Siegfried Elementary School, for the remainder of the 2016-2017 school year. Her salary will be $270.57, per diem, based on a Masterís degree and Step 1, retroactive to October 3, 2016, and with health insurance beginning February 1, 2017, as per the Affordable Care Act.
∑ Northampton Area High School 2017-2018 Program of Studies and Grade 9 Program of Studies.
∑ Five (5) year service agreement starting 7/1/2016 through 6/30/2021 with SimplexGrinnell for service to the fire alarm system, master clock, and rescue assistance stations at the following annual costs:
George Wolf Elementary $ 6,053.00
Siegfried Elementary $ 6,822.00
Lehigh Elementary $ 4,053.00
Moore Elementary $ 4,418.00
∑ Treasurerís Report.
∑ Behavioral supports for a student with special needs in an IU operated classroom at a cost not to exceed $9,150.40.
∑ Continuation of the Speech and Language Contract with Mrs. Barbara Carrington at a cost not to exceed $25,350.00.
∑ Tax Exonerations/Changes.
∑ Authorization for the issuance of General Obligation Bonds, Series of 2017, in the maximum aggregate principal amount of $24,000,000 for the purpose of refunding the School Districtís General Obligation Bonds - Series of 2011 and Series A of 2011 pursuant to the Local Government Unit Debt Act of 1996 and according to the Borrowing Resolution.
∑ Bills for Payment.
∑ Donated use of the Middle School and High School cafeterias and gymnasiums by the Northampton Area School District for the Dakota C. Galusha Memorial Fund Ninth Annual Basketball Tournament on March 10-12, 2017.
∑ Expulsion Hearing Waiver for High School Student #2016-07.
∑ Expulsion Hearing Waiver for High School student number 2016-08.
