At the regular meeting of the Board of Education, the Board approved the following:

·     Resignation of Wendy Clemons, Reading Specialist, for the purpose of superannuated retirement, effective June 2, 2017, or the last teacher day of the 2016-2017 school year.

·     Resignation of James Farber, Security Officer, for the purpose of superannuated retirement, effective December 23, 2016.

·     Resignation of Kendell Milia from the position of English Teacher, effective on or before January 17, 2017.

·     James Knittle, a paid leave of absence, on November 8, 2016, and an unpaid leave of absence, no insurance, beginning November 9, 2016, through November 29, 2016.

·     Resignation of James Knittle, Hall Monitor, for the purpose of retirement, effective November 29, 2016.

·     Rachel Knepp, a paid childbearing leave of absence, beginning on or about March 8, 2017, through April 20, 2017, and an unpaid FMLA childrearing leave, with insurance, beginning April 21, 2017, through the end of the 2016-2017 school year, as per Federal Government regulations. 

·     Kathleen Nota an unpaid FMLA leave of absence, beginning December 12, 2016 to a date to be determined – not to extend past March 15, 2017, with insurance, as per Federal Government regulations.

·     Stephanie Heffelfinger, a paid childbearing leave of absence, beginning January 3, 2017, through January 19, 2017 – AM, an unpaid FMLA childrearing leave, beginning January 19, 2017 – PM, through April 19, 2017 – AM, no insurance, as per Federal Government regulations, and an unpaid childrearing leave beginning April 19, 2017 – PM, through May 8, 2017.

·     Catherine DiOdoardo, a paid childbearing leave of absence, beginning January 3, 2017, through April 10, 2017 – AM, and an unpaid FMLA childrearing leave, beginning April 10, 2017 – PM, through the end of the 2016-2017 school year, with insurance, as per Federal Government regulations.

·     Professional status and tenure for the following teachers who have received six satisfactory evaluations:

·     Resignation of Jason Winchenbach as Assistant Girls Volleyball Coach, effective December 2, 2016.

·     Additions and deletions to the Substitute Listing for the 2016-2017 school year.

·     Resignation or Morgan Litak as Head Girls Volleyball Coach, effective December 12, 2016.

·     Revised Master District Volunteer List for the 2016-17 school year.

·     Mrs. Linda Deurer, Ms. Melissa Davis, Mrs. Leigh Zakutansky, and Mr. Jason Winchenbach to visit Ludlow, VT, along with thirty-six (36) students, to ski at Okemo Mountain Resort on February 3, 4, & 5, 2017. There will be no cost to the District.

·     Revised Mentor/Inductee List for the 2016-2017 School Year including the mentors and stipend payment for the 2016-2017 school year.

·     Mrs. Lauren Ezzell, Mr. Kevin Ezzell, Ms. Deborah Hunter, and Ms. Jacqueline Hanson to accompany our HS students to Quebec City, Canada, on June 15-18, 2017.  There will be no cost to the District.

·     Voluntary transfer of Helene Braren from Tuesday through Saturday Custodian to Monday through Friday, Middle Shift Custodian at Moore Elementary School, effective retroactive to December 5, 2016, with no change in base salary.

·     Kaitlynn Wiltraut, TPE Mathematics Teacher at the Middle School, effective on or about January 18, 2017.  Her salary will be $47,720.00, prorated, with benefits, based on a Bachelor’s degree and Step 1, per the Collective Bargaining Agreement between NASD and NAEA.

·     April Ziegler, Short Term Substitute Social Studies Teacher at the Middle School, effective on or about January 27, 2017, through on or about April 20, 2017.  Her salary will be $125.00 per day, no benefits.

·     Stephanie Chlebove, Short Term Substitute Grade 2 Elementary Teacher at Moore Elementary School, effective on or about January 3, 2017, through on or about May 8, 2017.  Her salary will be $150.00 per day, no benefits.

·     Nicole Fox, Short Term Substitute Kindergarten Teacher at Lehigh Elementary School.  Her salary will be $125.00 per day, retroactive to September 19, 2016 – PM, no benefits.

·     Mark Keeler, Security Officer, effective January 3, 2017.  His salary will be $19.53 per hour, no benefits, in accordance with the Collective Bargaining Agreement between NASD and NASA.

·     Attendance of Mr. John Bendekovits and Ms. Jamie Horvath at the Pennsylvania Educational Technology Expo & Conference in Hershey, PA, on February 13-14, 2017, at an approximate cost of $817.16.  The amount is included the 2016-2017 Board approved curriculum budget.

·     Updated job descriptions for the following positions: Head Secretary – Secondary, Elementary Secretary, Guidance Secretary, Attendance Secretary, and Secondary Building Secretary, effective December 20, 2016.

·     Karissa Hantz, Long Term Substitute Special Education Teacher at Siegfried Elementary School, effective January 3, 2017, for the remainder of the 2016-2017 school year.  Her salary will be $253.83 per diem, based on a Bachelor’s degree and Step 1, with benefits.

·     2016-2017 Community Education Program Spring Classes and Roster of Instructors with Stipends.

·     Revised listing for Extra-Curricular & Supplemental Positions for the 2016-2017 school year. 

·     Philip Oels, Third Shift Custodian at the Middle School, effective December 20, 2016.  His base rate of pay will be $18.83 per hour, 85% of the current hourly rate, with benefits, in accordance with the Collective Bargaining Agreement between NASD and Teamsters Local 773. 

·     Voluntary transfer of Alyssa Silfies from Third Shift Custodian at the Middle School, to the Tuesday through Saturday Custodian at Moore Elementary School, effective retroactive to December 6, 2016, with no change in base salary.

·     Revising listing of Traffic Duty Monitors and hourly rates, effective for the 2016-2017 school year.

·     Gina VanLuvance, Short Term Substitute Kindergarten Teacher at Franklin Elementary School, effective January 3, 2017, through on or about March 23, 2017.  Her salary will be $125.00 per day, no benefits.

·     Adoption of the following revised policies, effective December 20, 2016:  007 – Policy Manual Access, 202.1 – Education of Children Residing with An Adult Other Than Natural and/or Custodial Parent, and 216 – Student Records – Attachment B.

·     Appoint Terry A. Leh as the Primary TCC voting delegate and Matthew Sawarynski as the Alternate TCC voting delegate for Northampton Area School District during the 2017 calendar year.

·     The following Fund Balance amounts and classifications:

            A.  $282,359 for Inventory and $188,657 for PrePaid Expenses as Nonspendable  Fund

Balance Reserves.

            B.  $500,000 for future PSERS rate increases, $1,850,000 for Facility Capital Maintenance Projects, $400,000 for District Wide Curriculum/Technology Purchases, and $78,975 for OPEB Obligations as Committed Fund Balance Reserves.

·     2016-2017 Budget Transfers.

·     Treasurer’s Report.

·     Bills for Payment.

·     Expulsion Hearing Waiver for Middle School student number 2016-09.
