At the regular meeting of the Board of Education, the Board approved the following:
∑ Resignation of Kendell Milia from the position of English Teacher, effective January 20, 2017.
∑ Resignation of Glen Benes as Assistant Football Coach, effective December 15, 2016.
∑ Resignation of Timothy Morris, Custodian, for the purpose of superannuated retirement, effective March
∑ Richard Gladish, an extension to his unpaid FMLA leave of absence, beginning December 13, 2016, through January 8, 2017, without insurance, as per Federal Government regulations.
∑ Resignation of Tanya Hock as Assistant Musical Director at the Middle School, effective December 12, 2016.
∑ Carrie Abruzzi, a paid childbearing leave of absence, beginning on or about May 2, 2017, through May 17, 2017, and an unpaid FMLA childrearing leave, with insurance, beginning May 18, 2017, through the end of the 2016-2017 school year, as per Federal Government regulations.
∑ Additions and deletions to the Substitute Listing for the 2016-2017 school year.
∑ Revised Master District Volunteer List for the 2016-17 school year.
∑ Mrs. Linda Deurer, Ms. Melissa Davis, Mrs. Leigh Zakutansky, Mr. Jason Winchenbach, and three (3) volunteers, Mr. Mark Zakutansky, Mr. Richard Silvius, and Ms. Lisa Titman, to visit Ludlow, VT, along with thirty-six (36) students, to ski at Okemo Mountain Resort on February 3, 4, & 5, 2017. There will be no cost to the District.
∑ Angelina Bender, Long Term Substitute Grade 2 Teacher at George Wolf Elementary School, effective retroactive to January 3, 2017, for the remainder of the 2016-2017 school year. Her salary will be $258.00 per diem, based on a Bachelorís +15 degree and Step 1, and with health insurance beginning May 1, 2017, as per the Affordable Care Act.
∑ Dawn Croom, 12-Month Elementary Secretary (Class B), effective February 6, 2017. Her salary will be $17.56 per hour, 80% of the position rate, with benefits, in accordance with the Collective Bargaining Agreement between NASD and NAESPA.
∑ Matthew Palmer, Hall Monitor at the High School, effective January 10, 2017. His salary will be $13.00 per hour, 90% of the position rate, without limited benefits, in accordance with the Collective Bargaining Agreement between NASD and ESPA.
∑ Mr. Ryan Mertz and three (3) students to attend the PMEA District 10 Orchestra Festival at Shenandoah Valley High School, in Shenandoah, PA. The students will be attending January 26 through January 28, 2017. Mr. Mertz will be attending on January 26, 2017. The approximate cost to the District is $635.00. The costs are included in the music budget (registration) and the curriculum budget (sub cost and mileage).
∑ Mrs. Emily Reinsmith and one (1) student to attend the PMEA District 10 Chorus Festival at Bangor Area High School in Bangor, PA. The student will be attending January 12 through January 13, 2017. Mrs. Reinsmith will be attending on January 12, 2017. The approximate cost to the District is $210.00. The costs are included in the music budget (registration) and the curriculum budget (sub cost).
∑ Elizabeth Keppel, PE English Teacher at the Middle School, effective on or before March 10, 2017. Her salary will be $58,624.00, pro-rated, with benefits, based on a Masterís +15 degree and Step 7, per the Collective Bargaining Agreement between NASD and NAEA.
∑ Dr. Kathleen E. Ott and Mrs. Deborah Ohmacht to attend the 2017 PDE Title I Improving School Performance Conference, January 29 Ė February 1, 2017, at Sheraton Station Square, Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, at no cost to the District.
∑ Accept approval by PDE of PlanCon Part H: Project Financing Project No. 3687 Ė Revision, the new Middle School construction project.
∑ Northampton Area High School Audio Visual upgrade project to ePlus Technology, Inc., and Dagostino Electronic Services, Inc., at a cost of $534,330.75. The funds for this project are included with the Middle School Bond Funding Project.
∑ The following bids for fuel oil for the 2017-18 school year as awarded by the
Northampton/Monroe/Pike County Joint Purchasing Board:

∑ Commission for Elected Tax Collectors to a rate of $1.25 per bill collected, $0.30 per bill stuffed and $1.25 per installment payment collected for the period of January 1, 2018, to December 31, 2021.
∑ Catalog Fixed Discount Program as awarded by the IU20 Joint Purchasing Board for the period January 1, 2017, through December 31, 2017.
∑ 2016-2017 Budget Transfers.
∑ Contract with Erika Fitzpatrick, certified Wilson Reading Instructor, for the delivery of school-based services utilizing the Wilson Reading Program at a cost not to exceed $6,000.00.
∑ Bills for Payment.
∑ Expulsion Hearing Waiver for High School student number 2016-10.
