At the regular meeting of the Board of Education, the Board approved the following:
George Wolf Elementary:
∑ Revised Master District Volunteer List for the 2016-17 school year.
∑ Mrs. Linda Deurer, Ms. Melissa Davis, Mrs. Leigh Zakutansky, Mr. Jason Winchenbach, and four (4)
volunteers, Mr. Mark Zakutansky, Mr. Richard Silvius, Ms. Lisa Titman, and Ms. Jeanine Braren-Wuchter, to visit Ludlow, VT, along with thirty-six (36) students, to ski at Okemo Mountain Resort on February 3, 4, & 5, 2017. There will be no cost to the District.
∑ Revised Mentor/Inductee List for the 2016-2017 School Year including the mentors and stipend
payments for the 2016-2017 school year.
Jessica Finlayson Ė Assistant Boys Volleyball Coach - $2,024.00 (90% of 75%)
∑ Revised Curricula in Middle School and High School including Revised Curricula in Technology, Physical Education, and Social Studies.
∑ Transportation Plan and Memorandum of Understanding between Northampton Area School District and Northampton County Children, Youth and Families (NCCYF), and approve Jeanette Gilliland as Point of Contact authorized to sign both documents.
∑ Agreement with Lehigh University for the rental of Stabler Arena for the 2017 graduation ceremonies at a rate of $8,238.40 plus any actual expenses.
∑ 1. Approval of Preliminary Budget for 2017-2018. That the School Board does approve the preliminary budget for fiscal year 2017-2018; the Revenues and Expenditures are as follows:
General Fund - $102,814,673
Athletic Fund - $212,034
Food Service Fund - $2,413,955
The preliminary budget has been made available for public inspection at least twenty (20) days prior to adoption and public notice of the Boardís intent to adopt the preliminary budget has been given at least 10 days in advance pursuant to Act 1 of Special Session of 2006.
2. Approval to Seek Exceptions. That the School Board does hereby authorize the administration to seek approval from the Department of Education (Department) for certain exceptions allowed under Act 1, that if approved by the Department, will allow the School District to increase the rate of tax levied for the support of its schools during fiscal year 2017-2018 by more than the index allowed under Act 1 of Special Session 2006. The Boardís intent to seek exceptions shall be advertised in a newspaper of general circulation and on the Districtís publicly accessible internet site at least one week prior to submitting the request to PDE.
3. Authorization to Advertise the Intent to Seek Exceptions: That the School Board does hereby authorize the administration to give notice in a newspaper of general circulation and on the School District's internet site (website) of the Districtís intent to seek approval from the Department for exceptions.
∑ Accept with appreciation the donation of a Celestron 4 Ĺ inch Newtonion Telescope to the Northampton
Area School District from community members, Mr. John and Mrs. Paulette Obrecht. The approximate value of the donation is $160.00.
∑ Accept, with appreciation, the donation of two (2) flutes from Molly Kutz of Bath, Pennsylvania, for use at the Northampton Area Middle School with an estimated value of $150.00 per flute.
∑ Approve the 2017-2018 school calendar.
