At the regular meeting of the Board of Education, the Board approved the following:

·     Revised list of Professional and Support Staff transfers effective with the 2017-2018 school year.

·     District Master Volunteer List for the 2017-2018 school year.

·     Half-year sabbatical for Kristin Weller, for the purpose of professional development, for the second semester of the 2017-2018 school year.

·     Resignation of Heather Apostolopoulos as Musical/Drama Director and Newspaper Advisor, effective July 23, 2017.

·     Job descriptions for the following positions:  Supervisor of Facilities, Director of Operations, Secretary for the Director of Operations, Inventory Control Coordinator, Courier/Route Driver, Maintenance I, Maintenance II, Working Head Custodian, and Custodian, effective August 15, 2017.

·     Megan Snyder, a paid leave of absence, beginning August 21, 2017, through August 24, 2017, and an unpaid FMLA childrearing leave beginning on August 28, 2017, through October 31, 2017, with insurance, as per Federal Government regulations.

·     Resignation of Andrea Orlando from the position of Special Education Instructional Assistant, effective August 14, 2017.

·     Resignation of Adria Rios from the position of Chemistry Teacher, with an effective date no later than October 2, 2017.

·     Resignation of Kara Kern from the position of Special Education Instructional Assistant, effective August 20, 2017.

·     Resignation of Michael Moser, Custodian, for the purpose of superannuated retirement, effective October 6, 2017.

·     Master Substitute Listing for the 2017-2018 school year.

·     Revised Department and District Coordinators and Middle School Subject Leaders’ compensations effective for the 2017-2018 school year.

·     Community Education Program Fall 2017 Roster of Instructors and Stipends.

·     Erin Kessler, Cafeteria Monitor at Moore Elementary School, effective August 28, 2017.  Her hourly rate will be $12.07, without benefits, in accordance with the Collective Bargaining Agreement between NASD and ESPA.

·     Amber Konek, PE English Teacher at the Middle School, effective August 21, 2017.  Her salary will be $58,144.00, with benefits, based on a Master’s degree and Step 7, per the Collective Bargaining Agreement between NASD and NAEA.

·     Voluntary transfer of Eric Bauer from Tuesday through Saturday Custodian at Siegfried Elementary to Tuesday through Saturday Custodian at Lehigh Elementary, effective August 15, 2017, with no change in base salary, in accordance with the current Collective Bargaining Agreement.

·     Voluntary transfer of Salvatore Martuscelli from Third Shift Custodian at the High School to Middle Shift Custodian at Siegfried Elementary, effective August 15, 2017, with no change in base salary, in accordance with the current Collective Bargaining Agreement.

·     Contract between the Northampton Area School District and Mr. Paul Buechle as a Psychoeducational Evaluator effective August 15, 2017.  The contract will terminate on June 30, 2018. The provided services will not exceed $12,000.00, plus mileage.

·     Ranim Sankari, Short Term Substitute Grade 4 Teacher at Siegfried Elementary School, effective August 21, 2017, through on or about January 8, 2018.  Her salary will be $150.00 per diem, without benefits.

·     Melissa Amberger, TPE English Teacher at the Middle School, effective August 21, 2017.  Her salary will be $49,540.00, with benefits, based on a Bachelor’s degree and Step 1, per the Collective Bargaining Agreement between NASD and NAEA.

·     Memorandum of Understanding between the District and the ESPA union.   Pamela Romanishan to receive the Category I – Group B Secretary rate at 100%, effective August 28, 2017, as per the Memorandum of Understanding between the District and the ESPA union.  

·     Mrs. April Krempasky and Mrs. Theresa Wenck in the 2017-2018 German American Partnership Program (GAPP), which includes accompanying our students to Germany for the exchange visit and coordinating and hosting the visiting German students to our school district. Cost to the District for the program will total approximately $2,700.00.  The cost for this program is included in the Board approved 2017-2018 curriculum budget.

·      The following athletic coaching staff members and stipends for the 2017-2018 school year:

                  Kayla Bringenberg - Assistant Cheerleading Coach - $2,912.00

                  Jacqueline Steidel - Assistant Cheerleading Coach -      $1,941.00

·     Listing of 68-day Short-Term Substitute Teachers for the 2017-2018 school year.  The per diem rate will be $125.00, per the Substitute Professional pay schedule, no benefits.

·     Kelsey Morrison, TPE Special Education Teacher at the Middle School, effective August 21, 2017.  Her salary will be $49,540.00, with benefits, based on a Bachelor’s degree and Step 1, per the Collective Bargaining Agreement between NASD and NAEA.

·     The following athletic coaching staff members and stipends for the 2017-2018 school year, pending receipt of acceptable documentation:

                              Kristy Henritzy – Head Softball Coach - $8,892.00

                              Susan Arndt – Head Boys Volleyball Coach - $5,450.00

·     Bills for Payment.

·     Submit a Claim Form to recover a portion of tuition that had been paid to the PA Cyber Charter School for the enrollment of four (4) year old students in the Cyber School’s kindergarten

program subject to final court approval of the settlement of a class action lawsuit that had been filed against the Cyber School.

·     Collaborative Agreement/Contract for Services between Community Services for Children, Inc., Head Start

of the Lehigh Valley and Northampton Area School District for 2017-2018 to implement a Head Start Pre-K for twenty (20) Pre-K students residing in our district. There is no cost to the District for this program.

·     Lease Agreement between First Student, Inc., and the Northampton Area School District effective August

16, 2017, through July 15, 2018.

·     Consultative transition services with Dr. Domenico Cavaiuolo, Educational and Rehabilitation Consultant,

for a student with special needs at a cost not to exceed $2,000.00.

·     Accept with appreciation $250.00 worth of clothing and school supplies for the students at George Wolf

Elementary School from “Donors Choice” in response to a request placed by Christine Nemeh, ESL and Counseling Intern.

·     Accept with appreciation 500 elementary level books to Northampton Area School District elementary

students from the Logistics & Material Handling program at LCTI and First Book.

·     Accept with appreciation $250 worth of elementary level books to Northampton Area School District for

Siegfried Elementary School in memory of Lynne Reagan Johnson.
