At the regular meeting of the Board of
Education, the Board approved the following:
- Mariacruz Urtasun, an
unpaid FMLA leave of absence, beginning January 3, 2018, through January 18,
- Lisa Gross an unpaid
FMLA leave of absence beginning December 15, 2017, through February 12, 2018.
- A half-year medical
sabbatical for Mariacruz Urtasun, Spanish Teacher at the High School,
effective January 19, 2018, through the remainder of the 2017-2018 school
- Resignation of Donald
Suranofsky, Maintenance I employee, effective end of the day January 18, 2018,
and to end his employment as per Agreement.
- Revised Master District
Volunteer List for the 2017-18 school year.
- Revised listing of
Traffic Duty Monitors and hourly rates, effective August 28, 2017, through the
end of the 2017-2018 school year.
- Revised Mentor/Inductee
List for the 2017-2018 School Year including the mentors and stipend payment
for the 2017-2018 school year.
- LaRea Henninger, Long
Term Substitute Library Aide at the Middle School, effective retroactive to
January 19, 2018, for the remainder of the 2017-2018 school year, with no
change in salary.
- Cathleen Corrow, Long
Term Substitute Special Education Instructional Assistant at Siegfried
Elementary School, effective January 23, 2018, for the remainder of the
2017-2018 school year. Her salary will
be $10.53 per hour, with benefits.
- Lauren Hughes, Long Term
Substitute Special Education Instructional Assistant at Moore Elementary
School, effective January 23, 2018, for the remainder of the 2017-2018 school
year. Her salary will be $10.53 per
hour, with benefits.
- The following addition
to the Middle School Subject Leader listing and stipend for the 2017-2018
Barret Kohrt Keystone Subject Leader
(Mathematics) Ė MS $1,100.00
- The following athletic
coaching staff members and stipends for the 2017-2018 school year:
Brian Fegley - Assistant Softball Coach -
Juliann Maurek - Assistant Softball Coach -
adjusted basketball coaching stipends, effective for the 2017-2018 school
year, as per the Memorandum of Agreement dated October 11, 2016.
- Mrs. Tara Mrazik, Mrs.
Maryann Miller, Mrs. Leigh Zakutansky, Mrs. Neali Feimster, Mrs. Tara Walbert,
Mrs. Jaclyn Grejda, Mr. Matthew Greenplate, Mr. John Blick, Mr. Andrew
Peartree, and Mr. Ryan Brobst to attend the PA DECA State Conference along
with one hundred and forty-two (142) DECA students, on February 21, 22, and
23, 2018, in Hershey, Pennsylvania. Maximum cost to the
District will be $11,350.00. All costs to the District are included in
the Board approved 2017-2018 high
school and curriculum budgets.
- Mrs. Emily Reinsmith and
one (1) student to attend the PMEA District 10 Chorus Festival at Blue
Mountain High School in Schuylkill Haven, PA. The student will be attending
January 25 through January 27, 2018. Mrs. Reinsmith will be attending on
January 25, 2018. The approximate cost to the District is $225.00. The costs
are included in the Board approved 2017-2018 District Budget.
- Mildred Gomez, Long Term
Substitute Spanish Teacher at the High School, effective retroactive to
December 11, 2017, for the remainder of the 2017-2018 school year. Her salary
will be $263.51 per diem, based on a Bachelorís degree and Step 1.
- List of additions to the
extra-curricular staff members and stipends for the 2017-2018 school year.
Kyle Haas, Head Football Coach, effective for
the 2018-2019 school year, with the equivalent of 20 yearsí experience at a
compensation of 100% of the Head Coach stipend, for a total compensation of
$12,244.00, pursuant to the Collective Bargaining Agreement, pending receipt
of acceptable documentation.
The following bids for fuel oil for the
2018-19 school year as awarded by the Northampton/Monroe/Pike County Joint
#2 Fuel Oil (Truck Transport) @ $1.8819/gal. to Talley Petroleum of
#2 Fuel Oil (Tank Wagon) @ $2.3526/gal. to Talley Petroleum of
Unleaded Gasoline 87 Octane (Tank Wagon) @ $1.8465/gal. to PAPCO of
Bio-Diesel (Tank Wagon) @ $2.0309/gal. plus $0.025/gal. for winter
additive to Talley Petroleum of Grantville, PA
Off-Road Diesel (Tank Wagon) @ $3.2246/gal. (fluctuating) plus
$0.025/gal. for winter additive to Talley Petroleum of Grantville, PA
Approval of Preliminary Budget for 2018-2019. That the
School Board does approve the preliminary budget for fiscal year 2018-2019; the
Revenues and Expenditures are as follows:
General Fund - $107,532,563
Athletic Fund - $219,125
Service Fund - $2,446,795
The preliminary budget has been made available for
public inspection at least twenty (20) days prior to adoption and public notice
of the Boardís intent to adopt the preliminary budget has been given at least 10
days in advance pursuant to Act 1 of Special Session of 2006.
Approval to seek Exceptions.
That the School Board
does hereby authorize the administration to seek approval from the Department of
Education (Department) for certain exceptions allowed under Act 1, that if
approved by the Department, will allow the School District to increase the rate
of tax levied for the support of its schools during fiscal year 2018-2019 by
more than the index allowed under Act 1 of Special Session 2006. The
Boardís intent to seek exceptions shall be advertised in a newspaper of general
circulation and on the Districtís publicly accessible internet site at least one
week prior to submitting the request to PDE.

That the School Board does hereby authorize the administration to give notice in
a newspaper of general circulation and on the School District's
internet site (website)
of the Districtís intent to seek approval from the
Department for exceptions.
