At the regular meeting of the Board of
Education, the Board approved the following:
- Corissa Strohl, a paid
childbearing leave of absence, beginning on or about May 2, 2018, through June
7, 2018, and an unpaid FMLA childrearing leave, beginning August 20, 2018,
through September 7, 2018, with insurance, as per Federal Government
- Mark Keeler an unpaid
leave of absence, beginning April 20, 2018, through May 4, 2018.
- Additions and deletions
to the Substitute Listing for the 2017-2018 school year.
- Resignation of Frederick
Muschko, Cafeteria Monitor and Traffic Duty at the Middle School, effective
the last student day of the 2017-2018 school year.
- Revised Master District
Volunteer List for the 2017-18 school year.
- Resignation of Juliann
Maurek as Assistant Softball Coach, effective March 1, 2018.
- Mr. Ryan Mertz and two
(2) students to attend the PMEA Regional Orchestra Festival at Dallas High
School in Dallas, Pennsylvania. The students will be attending March 21
through March 23, 2018. Mr. Mertz will be attending on March 21 and March 23,
2018. The approximate cost to the District is $251.05. The costs are
included in the High School and Curriculum budgets.
- Athletic coaching staff
members and stipends for the 2017-2018 school year.
- Nicholas Huber, Tuesday
through Saturday Maintenance I, effective March 12, 2018,
pending receipt of proper documentation. His base rate of pay will be $24.82
per hour, 90% of the current hourly rate, with benefits, in accordance with
the Collective Bargaining Agreement between NASD and Teamsters Local 773.
- Alex Heckman, Short Term
Substitute Special Education Teacher at Moore Elementary School, effective
retroactive to February 26, 2018, through the remainder of the 2017-2018
school year. His salary will be $125.00 per day.
- Voluntary transfer of
Robin Sperlbaum from Tuesday through Saturday Custodian at Siegfried
Elementary, to Tuesday through Saturday Custodian at Moore Elementary,
effective March 13, 2018, with no change in base salary, in accordance with
the current Collective Bargaining Agreement.
- Ms. Maria Rodrigues,
Dance Team Coach, to chaperone sixteen (16) students to participate in the
Dance Team National Championship Competition to be held in Hershey, PA, on
April 20, 21, and 22, 2018. Cost to the District will be approximately
$300.00. This amount is included in
the Board approved 2017-2018 District budget.
- Ms. Anita Mateyak, Mr.
James Chuss, and 6 FBLA students to attend/compete in the FBLA State
Competition and Leadership Conference in Hershey, PA, on April 8, 9, 10, and
11, 2018. Total cost to the District will not
exceed $2,645.00. All costs to the District are included in the Board approved
2017-2018 curriculum budget.
Adoption of the following revised policy and
attachments, effective March 13, 2018: 918 – Title I Parent and Family
Camp Invention and Invention
Project Summer Enrichment Programs which will be held from June 18
through June 21, 2018.
Student cost for the four-day summer STEM activities programs is $145.00 for 3-5
and $165.00 for 6-8 grade students. These reduced prices have been made possible
by a contribution from the Northampton Konkrete Kids Educational Foundation.
There is no cost to the District for these programs.
Northampton Area School District Facilities
Study dated March, 2018 which is required to be submitted to the Pennsylvania
Department of Education as part of the PlanCon process. Submission of PlanCon
parts “A; Project Justification” and “B; Schematic Design” to the Pennsylvania
Department of Education for approval.
Award the Base bid of $82,635.00
to replace the sidewalks at the High School on Laubach Avenue and
Alternate #1 of $13,800.00 to add concrete in
the three driveway islands on Konkrete Lane to Bertolet Construction Corp., of
Wernersville, PA, for the total amount of $96,435.00.
Award the bid to replace the (100 +/- )
upright fire sprinkler heads in the attic of Siegfried Elementary School to
Guy M. Cooper, Inc., of Willow Grove, PA, for the total amount of $195,000.00.
Authorize the School Board President to sign
the Term Sheet between Northampton Area School District and
JW Development Partners, a General Partnership
providing for a transfer by easement and/or conveyance of a portion
(approximately 13.09 acres) of School District Property that comprises a total
of approximately 92.32 acres located at and to the northeast of the
intersection of Nor-Bath Boulevard (S.R. 329) and Seemsville Road in East
Allen Township. The land subject to the transfer is depicted on a Concept
Plan attached to the Term Sheet. The land subject to the transfer will be
used for public improvements that will provide a benefit to the School
District when the School District develops its Property for educational and
Northampton Community College Educational and Support Budget in the amount of
$60,103,113 with the Northampton Area School District’s contribution of $797,013
required to fund the budget.
Koch as Northampton Area School District’s representative to the BAVTS Authority
for a term of January 1, 2017, to December 31, 2022.
