At the regular meeting of the Board of Education, the Board approved the following:

·     Resignation of Gabriele Anderson, Instructional Assistant, for the purpose of superannuated retirement, effective June 11, 2018, or the last student day of the 2017-2018 school year.

·     Resignation of Christopher Deutsch, Instructional Assistant, effective end of the day April 20, 2018.

·     Lori Emery an unpaid FMLA leave of absence, beginning April 3, 2018, through April 6, 2018.

·     Valerie Sharkazy a paid childbearing leave of absence, beginning on or about September 23, 2018, through November 2, 2018, and an unpaid FMLA childrearing leave of absence beginning November 5, 2018, through on or about February 12, 2019, with insurance, as per Federal Government regulations.

·     Sydney Coffey, an extension to her unpaid FMLA leave of absence, through April 23, 2018.

·     Elizabeth Keppel a paid childbearing leave of absence, beginning August 20, 2018, through September 18, 2018, and an unpaid FMLA childrearing leave of absence beginning September 19, 2018, through November 2, 2018, with insurance, as per Federal Government regulations.

·     Dana Werkheiser, an extension to her unpaid FMLA childrearing leave of absence through May 18, 2018, with insurance, as per Federal Government regulations.

·     Tina Carnathan-Marx an unpaid FMLA leave of absence, beginning April 27, 2018, through May 24, 2018.

·     Additions and deletions to the Substitute Listing for the 2017-2018 school year.

·     Laura McHugh, an extension to her unpaid FMLA leave of absence, through May 3, 2018.

·     Revised Master District Volunteer List for the 2017-18 school year.

·     Mr. Ryan Mertz and one (1) student to attend the PMEA All-State Orchestra Conference at J.P.

McCaskey High School in Lancaster, PA.  They will be attending April 18 through April 21, 2018.  The approximate cost to the District is $365.36.  The costs are included in the Board approved 2017-18 District budget.

·     Bethany Frantz, Tracy Paules, and Michelle Pasquariello as Temporary Custodians, effective June 18, 2018, through August 17, 2018.  Rate of pay will be $12.13 per hour.

·     Listing of Student Summer Help, along with their compensation rate of $7.25 per hour, effective for the summer of 2018.

·     The following addition to the Athletic Event Staff for the 2017-2018 school year:

·     Attendance of Chief Wilfred Williams at the “Investigative Techniques Using Social Networking Sites” Conference at the Caernarvon Township Police Department in Morgantown, Pennsylvania, on May 30, 31, and June 1, 2018, at an approximate cost of $783.13.  The amount is included the 2017-2018 Board approved security budget.

·     Mr. Robert Steckel at the 2018 PA Educational Leadership Summit in State College, PA, on July 29 through July 31, 2018, at an approximate cost of $800.95.  The amount is included the 2017-2018 Board approved curriculum budget.

·     Luke Shafnisky, Principal of the Northampton Area High School, effective July 1, 2018, pending receipt of proper documentation.  Salary will be $113,000.00, with benefits, and in accordance with the Act 93 Agreement.

·     Mr. Michael Sugra, Mr. Zachary Sugra, Mr. Jarad Haupt, Mr. Jason Keppel, Mr. Jeffrey Erschen, Mr. Kyle Ruff, Mr. Brian Ruff, Mr. Ryan Weiner, Mr. Michael Hock, and Mr. Michael Brown to accompany 38 students on the Cooperstown, NY field trip on Sunday, April 29 and Monday, April 30, 2018.  Maximum cost to the District will be $452.00 which is included in the Board approved 2017-2018 District Budget.

·     Cassandra Herr, Principal of Lehigh Elementary School, effective July 1, 2018, pending receipt of proper documentation.  Salary will be $94,500, with benefits, and in accordance with the Act 93 Agreement.

·     Caterina Mengel as Temporary Tax Office Secretary, effective July 2, 2018, through September 7, 2018.  Ms. Mengel will be paid the substitute secretary rate of $10.80 per hour.

·     Resignation of Barbara Rushatz, Instructional Assistant, for the purpose of superannuated retirement, effective June 11, 2018, or the last student day of the 2017-2018 school year.

·       Treasurer’ Report.

·       Tax Exonerations/Changes.

·       Bills for Payment

·       Carbon Lehigh Intermediate Unit Student Driver Education Program Agreement.

·       Agreement between the Northampton Area School District and Gerhard’s Defensive Safety Driving Academy to offer driver education courses at the Northampton Area High School for the term of June 1, 2018, through May 31, 2019, with no cost to the District.

·       Accept, with appreciation, a donation of 230 elementary level books valued at approximately $2,000 to Northampton Area School District from Mr. John Shaner in the SOC- Service Occupation Cluster - Supply Chain Management & Logistics Technology program at LCTI and First Book.

·       Accept, with appreciation, the donation of office and art supplies valued at approximately $300 to Northampton Area School District from Mr. John C. Pittman.

·       Accept, with appreciation, the donation of a tenor saxophone from Lisa Gatti-Miller for use at the Northampton Area Middle School with an estimated value of $900.00.

·       Ms. Paulin with children to attend the PDE Title I State Parent Conference at Seven Springs, PA, on July 10 – July 12, 2018, at a cost not to exceed $1,067.00.  The cost of the conference will be covered through the Title I Parent Involvement funds which have been budgeted specifically for this purpose.  There is no cost to the District for this conference.

·       Jairo and Sheena Zorrilla-Cortes with children to attend the PDE Title I State Parent Conference at Seven Springs, PA, on July 10 – July 12, 2018, at a cost not to exceed $1,087.00.  The cost of the conference will be covered through the Title I Parent Involvement funds which have been budgeted specifically for this purpose.  There is no cost to the District for this conference.

·       Revised school calendar for the 2017-2018 school year.

·        Memorandum of Understanding with Detweiler Family Medicine to conduct immunization clinics at the Middle School and High School for the 2017-18 school year, at no cost to the District.
