During the Board Reorganization portion of the meeting of the Board of Education, David Gogel was elected President of the Board and Chuck Frantz was elected Vice President for 2019. All Board meetings will be held at the District Administration Building at 6:30 p.m. in 2019.
The Board of Education approved the following:
∑ Resignation, for the purpose of Disability Retirement, of Mariacruz Urtasun, effective on or about January 18, 2019, In addition, approve a waiver for the obligation to return to service upon conclusion of her medical sabbatical leave.
∑ Resignation of Katherine Carney from the position of Guidance Counselor, effective on or about January 18, 2019.
∑ Resignation of Krista Atiyeh from the position of Health Room Instructional Assistant at the Middle School, effective at the end of the day December 12, 2018.
∑ Additions and deletions to the Substitute Listing for the 2018-2019 school year.
∑ Revised Master District Volunteer List for the 2018-2019 school year.
∑ Resignation of Bobbi Beidleman as Assistant Cheerleading Coach, effective November 28, 2018.
∑ Shamarie Boreman, Long Term Substitute Special Education Instructional Assistant at Moore Elementary School, effective on or about November 29, 2018, through the end of the 2018-2019 school year. Her salary will be $10.53 per hour.
∑ Extension of employment of Crystal Becker as Long Term Substitute Guidance Counselor at the Middle School, effective at the start of the second semester of the 2018-2019 school year. Her salary will be $290.97, per diem, with benefits, based on a Masterís degree and Step 1.
∑ Extension of employment of Mildred Gomez as Long Term Substitute Spanish Teacher at the High School, effective at the start of the second semester of the 2018-2019 school year. Her salary will be $274.23, per diem, with benefits, based on a Bachelorís degree and Step 1.
∑ Jacob Stopay, TPE English Special Education Teacher at Siegfried Elementary School, effective upon release from his current position. His salary will be $51,555.00, with benefits, based on a Bachelorís degree and Step 1, per the Collective Bargaining Agreement between NASD and NAEA.
∑ Authorize the School Board President to sign the Development Agreement between Northampton Area School District and JW Development Partners, a General Partnership and further approve and authorize the District administration to carry out all terms and conditions of the Development Agreement including but not limited all actions required for Township approvals, PennDOT approvals and other governmental approvals and all action required to assure that the Deed restriction for the School District property is not violated.
∑ A three (3) year service agreement with Reading Elevator Service, Inc., of Reading, Pennsylvania, for the Administration Building elevator at an annual cost of $3,300, with a 0% increase for the period of January 2019 through December 2021.
∑ Appoint Matthew Sawarynski as the Primary TCC voting delegate for Northampton Area School District during the 2019 calendar year.
∑ Authorize the administration to work with PFM for the issuance of General Obligation Bonds, Series of 2019, in the approximate amount of $9,995,000 for the purpose of funding a portion of the new Lehigh Elementary School Project, as per the Resolution.
∑ The following Fund Balance amounts and classifications:
A. $295,419 for Inventory and $155,113 for PrePaid Expenses as Nonspendable Fund Balance Reserves.
B. $71,278 for Chromebook Reserve as Assigned Fund Balance Reserve.
C. $1,200,000 for Facility Capital Maintenance Project as Committed Fund Balance Reserves.
